Has anyone had an endoscopy/gastroscopy?? if so is the camera big? is it really uncomfortable...?
Anything else worthy of note about ur experience? Thanks :-) x

I've had an endoscopy hun. I was given something to relax me, I ended up falling asleep and barely remember a thing (I remember gagging when the camera first went in) so it wasn't uncomfortable for me but I suppose it depends on what you will do ie. just your throat numbed or to be sleepy & relaxed (I cant remember what the name of the stuff they gave me was)
The camera itself is tiny. Overall I think my experience was very good considering I got myself into a right state worrying about it beforehand (they had to give me an extra dose to knock me out cause I was in hysterics)

Thanks hun. oh thats ok then, i've had a sedative for something before..i couldnt even remember it when i woke up! i'm not so worried now! :-)

I have had an endoscopy and also a colonoscopy - both were bearable although neither particularly pleasant.

Its all over so quickly though, and doesnt hurt at all!

Ive had an endoscopy, colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy (infact anything with an oscopy i get!) The most important thing to do is relax. I think the endoscopy was actually the easier of the three. I did have a little moment of freaking out but i imagined i was on a beach and relaxed and all was fine.

Good luck with it hun,

Claire x

Thank you  i think i would rather it be down the top end than anywhere else so i'm grateful for that!
anyway i have been in so much agony that if it helps them to find out whats wrong with me and make it stop then i will put up with anything! I would rather be in labour 10 times over than to have this pain again!

I hope they find out whats causing you pain. Let us know how you get on!

Me too   But I find the colonoscopy far easier...

The endoscopy camera is quite small actually, but it feels much bigger when they are putting it down. Take the drugs that they offer you and NOT the spray. The spray does nothing, and I always end up freaking out and trying to pull it out... but they dope me up so high that I don't care. But Nori's right the key is to relax... I hope they find out whats wrong...

Haha i think your mad but i havent had either so i'm not saying anything..i guess it is freakier having something down your throat because of breathing and swallowing being so essential to living!! thanks for all the advice girls..i will say no to the spray..i just hope they drug me up good :-) xx

Definately go for the drugs if you can but i had the spray and it wasnt half as bad as i thought it would be. Just dont swallow! Breath through your nose and think of being on a hot beach.. as soon as i swallowed thats when i paniced. I soon got it under control though and the person doing it said it was the quickest they had ever done.. i do get a little competitive! lol

Good luck,

Claire x
