my baby had his first lot of injections last monday. the nurse at the time said he may either be sleepy afterwards or grumpy. that monday night he was very tired and slept all evening and all night. but since then he hasn't been very happy or settled. he's grumpy and cries a lot of the time till he tires himself out goes to sleep then starts all over again and he is snack feeding a lot and doesn't always finish his bottles like he would before. he's also become very jumpy and jumps and the slightest thing and he is throwing his head around a lot and he never used to.

guess i'm just wondering what effect the first injections have had on your lo's if any and will the effects ware off. i'm quite concerned and if it continues there is an immunisation specialist we can see who will probably take blood to see if there is a high level of something making him unwell but i'm hoping it won't come to that. after his reaction this time i think we will delay the rest of his injections and he can catch up when he is older.

It might be an idea to take him to your GP to put your mind at rest. Becky was pretty similar after the first lot (and has been very grizzly since the third lot which she had late) but then settled down again. Funnily enough the timings of the jabs are around the time that babies often have growth spurts which can unsettle them in the way you are mentioning.

I would especially take advice on deciding on delaying the injections as this is a pretty big decision to make.

Hope he's feeling better soon

Ditto the above. Growth spurts do happen and can make babies grumpy, fussy feeders and/or wanting more feeds and so on.

IIRC our LO just slept a bit more after his first jabs. He was grumpy for a fair few days after. Same with the 2 follow up sets. The last lot he was grumpy for a week or more. By grumpy I mean miserable and yelling a lot inbetween fussing when feeding and grumbling himself to sleep.

I'd not say your LO is 'unwell' after his jabs. You make no mention of a temp or fever etc. His restlessness could be down to a number of things.

I'd have a chat with your HV or GP if you are worried. But I'd not delay those follow up jabs. Babies do settle after them and he has already had his first exposure to them.

hey hun my LO had his first lot of jabs on thur and has been having very similar symptoms to what ure LO had!! im not worried really, my lo is fussing when eating which means he is eating more, he has been especially wingey 2day!!!!! if he is still eatin and hasnt got a temp then i wouldnt panic!

after my sons 1st injections that night he was cuddly, quiet, clingy and sleepy. the complete opposite to usual. that was the best nights sleep id had since he was born  he wasnt himself at all, no temperature or rash just totally out of character. he was ok again by the next day. i was so worried he wouldnt be right after his 12 week and 16 week jabs but he was absolutely fine, he defiantly took it better than me! i was a mess!
