hi, I was jut wondering if anyone was educated on the topic of ectopic pregnancies. Does it started like a normal pregnancy? I’ve had four negative pregnancy tests in the last three weeks (I had sex 6 weeks ago) however am experiencing many of the symptoms. Starts off with abdominal pain, now extreme shoulder pain , hip/ vaginal wall pain as well as feeling sick and tired (usually only when the pain is strong).

I’m also confused because I’ve techniclly had my period but it started off with a gush of blood and then the next day started off like a normal one and continued as normal (but was a bit more watery) . This is off as my period usually starts and ends light.

Went to the doctors and they kind of ruled that out and ignored that option because of the negative pregnancy test, but I’m just not sure

Hi,
A friend of mine had an ectopic at the end of last year and she was getting blazing positives with every test she did.
She only realized she was having an ectopic because she had blood when going to the loo.x

thank you so much, this helped a lot :)

I am no expert by any means, but seeing you have had negative tests and a period i would be pretty confident in saying you cant be having an ectopic pregnancy as you were never pregnant in the first place....

I could well be very wrong and haven't checked with google ......

I haven't had an ectopic myself but know of people who have and would say all your symptoms point towards an ectopic, other than the negative test. However that said there are people who go through normal pregnancies without ever getting a positive, so it is possible.
A lady I know who had one a couple of years back had no idea she was even pregnant, still had cycles etc and went in with bad pains. They did all sorts of tests and she was in hospital a while before they finally found out what was going on (when she had positive tests and scans they couldn't decide if the pregnancy was viable or ectopic for a couple of days which I didn't understand, surely after a scan it would be easily confirmed?) .
Can you push for a scan? Or even pay for one private if you are concerned, just to rule it out.
I hope you get answers soon :)

thank you. I’m waiting on results for a possible infection or an STI as that’s what the nurse suggested, if they come back negative I’ll just have to do that. All of my symptoms are confusing though, but I shall see. Thank you so much for the reply
