Hi,

I've never posted on this part of the site before, so hope you don't mind me butting in.

Health visitor advised us to take ds1 (3yrs 3mths) to the gp about his always walking on his toes.

Gp did a thorough check of his feet and ankles, and said that his tendons at the back of his ankles felt tight.

He has referred ds to orthopedics straight away. Got appointment this morning for 14 Feb.

Anyone been in this situation before? What is likely to happen?

Feel a bit neglectful that I have left it so long now.

Thanks for any advice

Heather x

don't beat yourself up about it, mum's don't know everything

I'm sure you just didn't realise it was a problem.

For a mother who thinks she's neglectful, you sound very concerned, don't be silly and hard on yourself we all miss things

Don't really know much about it but hope all goes well with the appointment

Im not sure, but my cousion has to wear special insoles in his shoes because of a problem with the way he walks. Its not a major problem though.

Hiya Heather

My Nephew had the same problem and it resulted in the affectionate name of "Tommy Tippee Tippee Toes" for a few years.
He wasn't reffered to a specialist until he was 5yrs old because no-one realised it was a problem and assumed it was something he would grow out of. Please don't feel neglectful, its a very common problem and often very easily rectifyable.
When he saw a specialist he was shown some special exercises to help loosen the tendons. He had to do these every evening, and in time he learnt to walk normally and no further treatment was required.

Lotsa luck for your appointment in Feb - I'm sure everything will be fine!

 oh my god my son always walked on his toes we used to think it was funny mum has always called him billy elliot from the film
hes 13 now and dont really do it anymore so hopefully all will be ok xxx
