does anyone know the age u get ur driving licence taken off u coz ur to old to drive?
or wot health etc reasons you could have it taken of u for ??

I know you used to have to retake your test at 80.

I dont think you can ever be 'to old to drive' I think its more to do with your health. I think if you've got a bad heart they take it off you (well thats only going by my granddad, as he got his taken away... but he has had 4 heart attacks)

Whats up chick?

just asked OH - and he said if you have had a serious injury (richard hamond was his example), you need loads of test to check you are fit to drive.

and there isn't an age limit as such. its all down to health. you need to renew every 10 years though.

does that help?

well my Grandad is 83 and me and my dad really dont think he should be driving but wanted to find out wot the law is before we upset him as he is a proud man and driving is really all he has left (sad i know)

aww

its difficult. its must feel like taking away his independence.

yeah but i know it sounds nasty but id prefer that than him being in an accident and killing himself or someone else

My OH just checked his and it says his is only valid until 2013  He's only had it for 2 and half years

Changing the subject slightly: Sorry sarah (i give you permission (sp?) to kick me :D )

If you have a provisional and you then pass your test... can you sned it off and get a new picture on it?

ill forgive u hun
only coz i would like to know to as my provisional pic is awful[/quote]

Thats just for his photo card hun, it needs updating every ten years just like your passport.

Sarah at 83 im surprised your grandads insurance company haven't asked for a medical certificate from his doctor saying he is fit to drive. I know my grandad has had to do that and he is 76.

And yes you can change the photo on your full licence but you need it counter signed again.

Who has to sign the back of it?

a family friend or someone who has known you for longer than 4 years i think... but it can't be a partner or any family

What for a change of address? I just filled mine in on my counterpart and was told to sign it myself and then when I passed my examinor took my licence (provisional) and sent it all off for me and I just got my full licence last week
