Hi guys,

I was gagging for a dink earlier and bought a not from concentrate tropical juice drink .. 36%apple 26% orange 16%pineapple 15mango & 7%passion fruit ...

I have also been out for a meal this eve and had sag bhaji which i always have but it did look different and now i can taste fennel i think and have also read it may contain cumin

It dawned on me to check these tings and all i can see is baddddd .. causes miscarriage etc and now i am really worried and unsure what to do

I did drink most of the juice (a litre) and i ate hakf a portion of saag ... my belly does not feel overly grumbly

I am 6/ 7 weeks

I am just worried now i may have caused harm after being so careful :( it is so hard knowing what to eat

Xx

I don't know much about foods not to eat to be honest but if you ate saag it will have loads of iron and green leafy veg are so good for you. Most Indian dishes have tonnes of ginger in there which is fantastic for you and also for any nausea. I don't know much about cumin but my SIL ate all that stuck right throughout her pregnancy and our beautiful little niece is 2 years old and perfect hehe xx hope this helps reassure you a bit xx

Thank you Laura,

I feel okay tbh it is just so confusing with all of the information available online!

Xx

the foods you've consumed in those quantities will not cause harm. try not to read pages other than the NHS one. that's the best source of the correct information

As shepherdess says you’d have to consume a lot to have any effect, if any. With pineapple the bromelain is in the core and you’d have to have a huge quantity to have any issues. Try and relax x

Lol if cumin is dangerous I’m in big trouble, always add it to my chilli:)

I stick pretty firmly to the NHS list, the internet is great but a lot of it is scaremongering and it’s already a pita giving up caffeine and blue cheese (for me anyway) I’m not interested in restricting myself more than I need to!

I’m with the other commenters in this one, think you’re fine... stick with the NHS list!

Wow, by googling cumin in pregnancy it’s led me to a page which tells me that I should definitely avoid cumin AND garlic. Seriously garlic???

I’ve never heard of avoiding cumin. And again i think you’d have to consume in large quantities. As others have said, stick to the NHS and avoid google, there’s often no info on sources/evidence on random sites.

Thank you so much ladies .. i am a one for gogling although been more calm since becoming pregnant but with all the different information it is just ridiculous! Lol

Thank you so much for your replies .. i feel okay and just going to eat healthy as i can and stay away from random pages :shakehead:

Xx

Cumin and garlic are fine...websites like that should be bloody well shut down!

Oh...Fela, Stilton is absolutely fine for us...thank God as I love it and eat loads. Just follow the rule of soft and/or unpasteurised is bad, hard and/or pasteurised is gooood! Stilton is a hard cheese..it is perfectly safe. Gorgonzola etc...not so.

I can’t imagine life without Stilton.... ok perhaps not quite that dramatic but still..

There is nothing dramatic about that. Stilton IS life, lol

haha I am more of a chedder girl but I am beginning to relax a lot more the further along I am getting ... I had a terrible pain in my left shoulder 2 days ago but I had bloated up to the size of 6months pg! 2 years ago I would have been straight down A+E as all the symptoms were pointing to ectopic (google doctor obviously!) but turns out I am actually a little intolerant to gluten and I had 3 sandwiches and a pizza that day :D

It can be a minefield for sure with all of the websites but I really appreciate you all posting and it is nice for us to come together and figure this out sometimes :)

xx

The foods to avoid during pregnancy are those that haven’t gone through the pasteurisation process, mould ripened cheese, foods containing large amounts of vitamin A, undercooked meats and fish with high levels of mercury content. Everything you’ve mentioned should be fine x
