Hiya

Just wondered if anyone has been prescribed this to increase milk supply? I exclusively express as we really struggle with breast feeding, Alana has never been able to stay latched on properly. Over the past 2 weeks my supply has reduced by quite a bit. I have tried other 'natural' remedys but nothing seems to make a huge amount of difference and I am getting to the stage where I will need to start introducing formula, which I only want to do as a last resort. I have heard Domperidone helps but doctors can be reluctant to prescribe it. Has anyone had it prescribed and under what circumstances? I have a doctors appointment on Friday so am going to ask about it then but just want to get an idea as to the sort of response I will get from my GP in advance.

Thanks

I didn't want to read and run. Not been prescribed this myself but reading stuff online it seems very common in the US.

I had supply issues a couple of months back and my local breastfeeding team were brilliant. Definitely worth speaking ro someone qualified who can help.

I also bought a book called 'making more milk' from amazon. It's a La Leche League book by Diana West and Lisa Marasco. Well worth the money I spent and makes a lot of sense.

Domperidone is an anti sickness drug, it works by increasing the speed that substances pass through your digestive system. Milk increase production is purely a sideaffect rather than a wanted result of taking the drug. I wold suggest Fenugreek first, and other natural methods.

(On a side note.. creepy stuffs, she is called Alana Elizabeth, My real name is Elizabeth, and my LO is Alanna :p )
