As some of you may have read i had a problem with my previous GP's in getting an appointment, i had to wait 3 weeks for Jack to see a doctor for his excema!
They have an emergency surgery in the morning, 9-10am but honestly its like a circus cos no one can get appointments they all go to this.

I decided to change doctors as with kids you cannot afford to wait 3 weeks for an appointment.
There is a GP about 2 minutes from my house so decided to try there, plus it's Andy's GP. I got accepted and when i asked about how appointments work she said....... " You are guarenteed an appointment within the week at the longest, they have emergency appointments for those that need it and children under 5 get seen within 2-3 hours after you ringing"!!

I was so shocked cos it's so much better than my other one, but thats how it should be!

This is just like my doctors, I had no idea that all doctors weren't like this, I feel really lucky now. I'm glad you found a better doctor hun xx :D

our drs used to do appts in advance but now you ring on the day you want to go in, which is loads better and as long as you ring in the morning you will get an appt that day! :D also stops people not turning up as they can hardly forget what they booked for and surely if you need to see a dr you need to see them more or less now not in 3 weeks time!

at my docs u have to ring the day u want the appointment if they are full they ask if its an emergency and if u say yes or its for my baby they will fit u in there are really good!!

Hi

My docs is like your old one. There's 6 GPs but you're only allowed to see your own - it's ok with me and the older kids - he specialised in obstetrics and paediatrics. Stuarts is a womans health specialist and Alex's is geriatrics  If you ring with an emergancy, their standard script (I'm sure they read it out) is 'if it's urgent, go to A&E'. They think they're dead good cos they have an out of hours surgery - unfortunately, it's shared between all surgeries in the NHS trust, sometimes at Barrow in Furness, which is about 10 miles as the crow flies, but a two hour drive around the bay

for me, it's just like michelle82

you can't book appt in advance, you have to call in the same morning of the day you get an appt
it's MUCH better like this, it means you get seen!

I can't understand how they can ask people to wait for 3 weeks!!!
 :wall:

I am glad you found a better surgery!
Mel xx

Ours is good. You usually get an appointment within a week unless we want to see our doctor who only works part time but i don't mind who we see. The kids always get seen within a couple of hours of me ringing and if theres no GP available a nurse will see you and they can perscribe most things now.
