Hi All,

I'm off for my first chat with Doc and not really sure what to ask. I just want to know everything is ok. TTC since April last year but no joy plus quite irregular cycles. Any advise on what you think will happen / what to ask would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi  I have recently just been to the Docs with my partner as we have been trying for 15 months. :( Basically just tell the Doc how long you have been trying, tell them that you are doing all the right things, I dont know what you have been doing but obviously you have been having unprotected sex for quite a while, and at the right times. If you have been using OPKs or have been charting tell them about that. Tell them how long your cycles are and if they are irregular or in any pain that you shouldnt be. Tell them what your lifestyles are like, diet, drinking, smoking etc, and be honest otherwise its pointless! The Doctor will probably ask you to come in and have a day 21 blood test. This isnt always day 21, it should be 7 days before your next period, if you can work out exactly when that is! They will take blood tests for your progesterone levels, thyroid, FSH, LH and other things which Im not totally sure of! They will also tell your partner to give a semen sample, not at that very moment thankfully! He should abstain from sex and masterbation for at least 2 days, maximum 10 I think, then take a sample in for testing, in our case I could have the blood tests at the Dr but we have to take his sample in to the Pathology lab at the hospital. Then its just waiting for your results!

Ive recently had mine back and thankfully they were all good/normal. My partner is taking his sample in tomorrow :? So I guess we will find out next week if there is a problem, so If I can I will give you more advice then if you need it. Hope this has helped and Good luck hun!
