do you think my thermometer is broke?

soo my 'new' thermometer arrived yest so had a few goes on it to test it out, first time i done it it beeped when it was ready.

then last night i was testing it out again and it wasnt beeping to say it was ready. i put it in bf mouth to see what it was doing on screen and it just keep going up and up very slowly.

so i tested a few times timing it for 1 min 15 secs (it says it should be ready 50-70 secs on instructions) and i had temps of 36.14, 36.12, 36.16.

then this mornining i tested twice timing myself for 1min 15 secs and my temps were 36.51 and 36.53

do you think it is broken ? or would it be ok to still use seeing as my temps were pretty similar when timed?

i had a very restless sleep over it all last night, few mad dreams that it started beeping when ready again and that i changed the setting so it showed F no C, im going mad uno lol

are you temps supposed to be higher or lower when you first wake up??

id say ur thermometer seems ok....my thermometer isnt as accurate as urs e.g. only comes up 1 digit after decimal point like 36.2

I tend to have higher temps at night, lowerin morning, but it prob depends on the person, theres not a heck of alot in it tho, e.g. might be like 35.8 in morning, then 36.0 in night xxxx

the temp that is the relevent one is the basal body temperature - the one when your body is at compkete rest http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basal_body_temperature

Pay not attention to your temp at any othet time rather than immediately upon waking, do not get out of bed etc http://www.storknet.com/cubbies/preconception/bbt.htm

if you themometer is a tiny bit out it doesnt matter what matters is the pattern. good luck!

yeh thats really important hun, i keepmy by my bed and wen alarm goes off i grab thermometer and stick it in my mouth straight away lol the only thing that moves is my arm reaching for it xxx

bellarina - ha me too. my arm comes out from under the covers to switch of the alarm and grab the themometer, it goes straigtht in my mouth and i dont move anything else not even my head of the pillow! sounds mad but even moving enough to sit upright on the edge of the bed can affect temperature. the themopmeter i have i got from Boots and it has been pretty good and it takes my temp and beeps after only about 30secs.

yeh mine is from superdrug and is pretty good.

DH laughs at me in the mornings as like u i dont move....arm goes to alarm then temp and i can see him giggling at me half asleep doing my temp lol xxx

He he these made me laugh bout the arm out the covers.

I did try my best not to move but after turning my alarm off but I had to set the stop watch to time lol. It was my first go at it soo hopefully tomorrow ill do better. All I got off my bf was omg lol I ignored him last night for bout an hour whilst I was fiddling next to him in bed trying to work it lol

Thanks for the info girl, its put my mind at rest shame it doesn't beep tho wud have made it easier to test
