Hello,

I am looking for advise, my little one is due in 7 weeks and we want a really decent camera to catch all the fantastic moments we have ahead but there are so many cameras to chose from.

Does anyone recommend any??

All i would like is for it not to be to bulky

I don't have any specific recommendations but do make sure it comes with a rechargeable battery pack and charger! Its a blooming nightmare if it just uses AA batteries - they just don't last long enough!

the casio elixim isn't a bad choice if its a little camera you want? it is most definitely pocket sized and comes with a charger, rather than batteries :D :D

We've got a Sony Cybershot and its fantastic, it takes excellent pictures and videos and comes at different qualities and prices (from £99 to £299) :)

Panasonic Lumix FX series!!

Spot on, never had a probelm. My friend is SP Photographer and he had the Lumix FX and changed it and went though 4 other mates before going back to it, said nothing could beat it for a in your pocket camera!

Depends on how much yo want to spend but here is the range

Mines the FX9 but I have had it about 3 years now (never had ANY problems with it where as mum has had to have their Nikon replace twice and is faulty again in the same period!) so its been discontinued but you can get the newer versions (think FX500 or 35) or can get ONE HERE which I presume are just discontinued stock.

I got a new camera for my Birthday and so far it seems really good. It's a Sony Cybershot DSC-W120 but you can now get the newer DSC-W130 for a little bit more money and they both come in silver, black, pink or blue. Try www.buyacamera.co.uk for good digital camera deals :D Before you buy a camera type it in to google to get some reviews on it.

I just bought a Canon Ixus 70, well received it for my birthday. I really rate it, lovely looking, small, metal bodied and takes really nice pictures. Was just over £100 iirc.

The DH is really into photography and kept trying to make me buy a DSLR or something, I had to be adament I wanted something to fit in a pocket/bag and take snaps with!!

I have a Nikon Coolpix 7200 though there are better models out now. My old one is still going strong at my mum's house. I've always found Nikon cameras to be very reliable.

I wouldn't worry if the camera uses AA batteries - most of them do. Just make sure you use high capacity rechargeable NiMH batteries (make sure the number on the battery is greater than 2000mAh). Most cameras will come with a set of these (though you can buy more powerful ones) and a charger. It's ordinary disposable batteries that are useless in cameras, not good quality rechargeables.

We got a panasonic lumix DMC FX50 for Christmas and it is fantastic! We chose it because it has a baby setting which lets you display on the photo how old baby is. You just put in her date of birth and it does it for all photos taken on that setting. Whether or not you display the age is optional so you can save the photos both with and without the age written on them.
I often take rubbish, blurry photos (I move the camera as I press the button :wall: )but the image stabilisation on this camera really makes a difference as almost all my photos are in focus!
The colour is good with the camera too - some cameras take photos that look a lot redder than real life which I don't like.
