I am just wondering how everyone is coping with their sickness while maintaining some sort of normal diet?
I am so off food, for the strangest reasons. I feel sick at the thought of wet food, like salads, preparing raw meat, so many things! All i do want to eat is chips beans and breaded chicken or similar (Foods I NEVER eat) I am aware this is unhealthy but I don't think i can eat my normal healthy diet! I have bought vitamins as i am now worried i wont get what i need from the crappy diet I've developed a taste for.

After 5 weeks of being so sick and going days eating nothing at all, my advice is eat what you can. If I even remotely get an urge to eat something no matter how unhealthy, I give it a try. Yes it would be lovely and ideal to be super healthy the whole way through but in these early days, just eat what you can hun. Once you get by this you can focus on eating the better things xx

Yes I agree eat what you can - whatever it is you can stomach at this stage. Save the healthy eating for when your sickness has passed. I mostly only wanted crisps and apples early on so took multivits too. Baby will be fine! x

My husband is going to miss my cooking! lol
I ate out two nights ago, i think cause i didn't prep the food, i could eat it. Im also concerned about wasting food, ive stuck so many things in the freezer and binned so much salad and veg. So, i reckon I'm going to do a freezer section shop and live on rubbish till it passes. All the advice is healthy diet this, healthy diet that.. well it's all well and good if you can put it in your mouth for start hey! Thanks for the advice ladies, i felt like i was doing wrong by eating crap, but like you say it';s better than not eating anything! x

I wish that I could eat the healthy diet that i am 'supposed' to be eating right now. Everything that passes my lips is carefully scrutinised. Is this soft in case it comes back up? Is this serving size small enough that i will get some benefit of eating it, but not big enough to make me sick? I try not to eat anything more than the size of the palm of my hand. Your baby takes the nutrients out of the stores in your body anyway. Eat what you can and ignore anyone who thinks they know better.

I think I've been pretty lucky myself. About a week and a half ago I had nausea for 3 days - just felt sick all day, wasn't actually bringing anything up, so I didn't eat very much at all. All has gone back to normal now and I haven't been getting anymore sickness. I've been able to maintain a normal diet so far but I am not eating very big portions anymore compared to how I was when I was about 4-5 weeks.

I'm hoping I don't get any more sickness but I won't put all my eggs in one basket. As the other ladies said, Carly, just eat what you can. Slightly unhealthy food is better than no food at all! Xx

My midwife said to me just eat what you can keep down! I lived for nearly a week on hula hoops and rice crispies. If you're taking a vitamin tablet the baby will get everything it needs from that!

Ive not actually been sick, but the thought of some foods repulses me. Anything like chicken in a sauce, or strong smells, just find my stomach turning.

Claireyt, funny I've been addicted to pom-bear crisps! also craving garlic mayo with the herbs in. lol

What vitamins are you all taking? Until this sickness feeling ive only been on Folic acid, but ive been to boots to get the multi vits. Saves buying several separate ones, and they were only £3.45! i thought that was pretty reasonable x

This is my life too! Anything I put in my mouth I think will this hurt to vomit? Will I go off this forever if I vomit it? Could I maybe nibble this to help my stomach groaning? It's so horrible. If there's things your body is letting you eat Carly then go for it. My husband was cooking me everything imaginable to see if I could keep it down and I constantly vomited so we stopped making meals for me, I was wasting everything! Don't feel bad about eating certain things at all xx

I've been taking pregnacare max, but I have had low iron etc in the past.

I take the Seven Seas All Stages Pregnancy tablets which has folic acid and other vitamins in, too. I've never had any problems with them and I'm on my second box now - they seem to be doing very well for me so far! I took the Seven Seas Trying For A Baby before I fell pg and never had any issues with that either - I think the Seven Seas ones are better than Pregnacare personally but it all depends on your preference and what your body and system needs!

Going to see if the MW recommends anything else that's good when I go for my booking appointment on Saturday xx

When I had my booking in 2 weeks ago the midwife gave me new vitamins to take, I can't remember off hand what else is in them but she said the main thing to be taking is folic acid AND vitamin D so as long as your vitamin contains them that seems to be what's recommended. Anything else is a bonus! I did tell her I was struggling to keep just the plain folic acid down with the vomiting and she told me to do my best and didn't seem over.ly concerned. Baby takes from you no matter what xx

You're not alone Carly!

My nausea is becoming a definite issue in terms of what I feel like eating/what I can manage. If I don't make the food, it seems I can stomach it much better.

My main diet consists of: diet lemonade (ideally flat), ginger biscuits, brioche bread, normal bread and crisps!

I did have quite bad actual sickness when I was pregnant with my little boy - but at least with that, once I was physically sick it passed. This time the nausea is almost constant all day, it's a struggle to eat anything but I have found I can eat through the feeling if I try hard enough. I've only actually been physically sick twice.

Thanks ladies, I just spoke to my mother in law and she said now a days the midwife is likely to prescribe vitamins, which is ideal cause I can imagine it getting costly over 9 months. I reckon I'll be low in iron and I have problems with that anyway.

I don't get morning sickness so much, more like afternoon sickness. Ive still been able to have my porridge and full milk, but I'll snack on ginger biscuits when the feeling gets a bit worse. Now you've mentioned it id love some flat lemonade!!
