I've had Poppy since I was 9, and recently I think she's been showing signs of senior dementia, I was wondering if anyones dog has ever had this and what sort of signs I should look out for?

Dogs do suffer from dementia varying in severity.

My old BC started getting very vacant and barking at nothing at the age of 11, he also looked 'lost'. We lost him at age 15 1/2 and he wasn't too different at the end.

My Malamaute at 13 is very different!! She's like a spring chicken most of the time but we have seen a couple of 'moments' from her too!

There are quite a few medications/remedies (Senioir Aid, Vivatonin etc) that increase the supply of oxygen to the brain for elderly dogs, so it may be worth speaking to your vet.

What sort of dog is she??

We think she's a Labrador mixed with German Shepard and is 14. She's lost a lot of weight in the past few months and sometimes struggles to eat, and relieved herself in the middle of the living room in front of me the other day which she's never done before. I haven't noticed her barking too much, but I see the vacant look in her face a lot, and find her pacing from one room to the next.

Oh bless her, that's a good age for that sort of mix!

Have a chat with your vet about her.
