Hi there
I am new to this forum, and would appreciate any light anyone can shed on this.
I have been seeing a consultant privately since May after one year trying to conceive. I'm 36.
I was put on Clomid 50mg last month and the day 21 progesterone test level was just 20. I managed yesterday to obtain the day 21progesterone test from November 2016 from my GP. The level was 48.
I am waiting to speak to my consultant but am now really confused.
I've had all the other usual blood tests/ ultrasound, and my cycle is alway 26-28 days without fail. He therefore told me previously that I am probably ovulating regularly based on everything.
Has anyone else experienced this please? How can the progesterone level be that much lower on Clomid?
Thank you

I think you probably just ovulated on a different day on clomid. I know for me my progesterone is <1 without ovulation so to be 20 I would say ovulation was on its way atleast.

It can change your ovulation day as sugar said, did you get scans to confirm ov as well, you really should on clomid? Wondering why they suggested clomid if you ov regularly on your own anyway? Did they tell you the reasoning behind the decision?

I went to see a consultant who told me that as I had regular periods she could not give me clomid as it's only given to ladies without periods.
Your day 21 bloods are a bit low but I was told anything over 12-15 means you have ovulated, but if its not around 30 it means you don't have enough progesterone to support a pregnancy and likely you will need to take progesterone. You can also buy progesterone cream to use after ovulation, I have borderline low progesterone and I use pro gest, it works really well to raise levels. I think when we age our progesterone drops, I'm 45 now. x

Thank you all for your replies.
I've now had to up my dose to 100mg of Clomid and will need more blood tests and a scan this month to monitor everything. I was told that Clomid is sometimes given to women who do ovulate. There must be some evidence it still can help your chances somehow?
I'll keep you posted.
Thank you all and good luck!
