Yesterday I was in Sainsbury's and saw 'Serious Food Co's trio of creme brulee'.

It look amazing, three tiny brulee's (different flavours) in a china dish.

We usually have fruit for desert, but it was Friday and I was feeling low and was looking for a naughty dessert

I put it back though because I was worried it maight be made with uncooked eggs. I am not sure if I am right. Have I deprived myself unecessarily, or is it best to stay clear of creme brulee?

would it not say on the packet?
sorry hun i dont even no what creme brule is sounds nice though :D
manda xx

Surely if it is custard then the eggs must be cooked because that is how you make the custard thick isn't it, by cooking the egg yolks? Then again if you feel at all worried then don't, the risk isn't worth it!

mmmm! They sound nice. I would have thought shop bought one's would have used cooked eggs to prevent bacteria forming whilst it's sat on the shelf. Not 100% sure though. I think you did the right thing giving it a miss for now.

I think you're OK with shop bought stuff. That's certainly the case with cheesecake and mayo and other things that could have raw egg in them if you make them at home.

My mom makes creme brulee and it's raw egg thats baked in the oven until cooked. I'd check the packet aswell though.

I went through a real thing for creme brulees at one point and ate loads of shop bought ones- they use pasturised eggs.

I can highly recommend the marks and spencer ones.... :rotfl:

Yummy yummy - i have eaten a good few creme brulees during my pregnancy ... :D

this is all excellent news!!!!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
