The house we're buying has as far as we were aware all coming along nicely, until we got a phone call from the estate agents saying that the vendor wants to exchange contracts on Tuesday (dumb fuck clearly doesn't realise it Friday tomorrow & solicitors don't work at the weekends & we haven't even seen the contracts!) he said if its not done by then he'll re-consider selling it to us ( we've paid £1000 deposit as well the cheeky sod  )

I'm so angry. How can someone be that unreasonable? We've chased our soliicitors & they are waiting (still after several weeks, he's been chasing too) for the boundries, so its his solicitors that need a kick up the backside.

I'm so scared we'll lose the house. My stomach's in knots

aww hun   can you not have a chat with them about it?

hope it works out...and if he really wants a quick sale i doubt he will just decide to sell it to someone else :)

I suggest you get the number of the vendor and have a chat with him directly - this information has gone through a couple of people before getting to you, people with a vested interest in the house selling as quickly as possible, so expect a case of chinese whispers!

When we were buying our house we luckily got on really well with the vendors and could give them a call to chat about things, which was handy as we got a lot of second hand info stating they wernt happy with this or that, but when we spoke to them directly they didnt know what we were on about!

 oh no what a nightmare!

when i used to work in C&G i was amazed at how many people threatened to pull out to try to speed things up and very very few of them ever did it! most likey he is bluffing - will take longer for someone else to start from scratch buying it than it will for you guys to exchange so what would he gain?

hope all works out ok hun  keep us posted!

Cheers hunny.

Spoken to our solicitor today & everything we're waiting on is because his (the Sellar) solicitor hasn't done it. I think the vendor has been told a few porkies!! so its all on his side & not our fault at all. I think we'll exchange week after next now, realistically anyway.

At least thats something. Hope it goes smoothly for you now. Best of luck. When we bought our house it took almost 4 months to get the keys from offer going in, we nearly pulled out, then low and behold, 2 days later they had exchanged docs!! We been there a year now
