Ok, i've got my appointment with the consultant on Tuesday, just wondering what actually goes on?

Will they check and see what my cervix is doing etc?

I have never had my cervix checked by the consultant.... They just asked me how I was getting on and checked my BP and bump size then felt the baby- pretty much what the midwife normally does.......

Ive only seen the consultant once and that was Friday...he did all the routine checks e.g. BP, urine etc.

Well went to my appointment with the consultant yesterday, didn't even get to see him! Saw my usual midwife first and she said there was no point seeing him as i wasn't over my date he wouldn't even contemplate doing anything!

So theyare going to leave me and if i've still not had bubs for the 29th i've to go to the hospital and have an examination to see what my cervix etc is doing, and then they will book me a date for an induction, so i'm thinking i'll still be here in January

Right hun so they wont induce you on the 29th...they will BOOK a date to induce is that right??

What a blimmin bugger, that was a bit of a waste of time for you hun!

If its any consolation this baby has given me no signs that its coming anytime soon, I think im going to go overdue as well!!!!

Yeah they'll book my induction on the 29th if baby still isn't here, i could have cried yesterday!

I was up during the night again with some tightenings and back ache but it's all disappeared again!

So how long after your appt would you have your induction??

I have no clue, at first the midwife was just wanting me to wait 2 weeks before seeing anyone or doing anything about it and i was like no flipping way Vera! So that was the "compromise" we came to!

So if i do get induced it's not gonna be until January!

I am seeing my consultant on Friday to discuss a date for induction... ( thats what I have been told anyway!) aparently they don't like to leave you for longer than 10 days now ( it used to be 14) But with it being New Year and everything they may leave it longer....... (contradictions already!)


This baby is making no signs or suggestions that he/she is coming out this side of the New Year anyway so looks like we are in it for the long haul Vicky!!!!

Its a shame you didn't get to see the consultant becasue you get emotionally prepared to see someone different then you get let down.... these people really shouldn't mess with a pregnant womans emotions especially during week 40!!!

It's obviously different for different areas which i find weird as we're all the same!

Hope you get a better result than i did hun! If not we'll both be bald by new year pulling our bloody hair out!

Yeah I hate the inconsistency of it all - Portland Babies has been on this morning - now thats where I want to have my babies in the future!!!!

I am sure we will be in it together Vivky and will still be here in january!! I will let you know if anything happens on Friday!!
