Just wondering if any of you lovely ladies have any advice on how to relive constipation? I,ve tried giving her water, but she won,t take it now. She is breastfed so could there be something I,m eating or drinking thats bringing it on? I never had this problem with the boys so any ideas would be great. Xx

HV told me to persevere with water, difficult if you're breast feeding. Have you called the HV's?

I used water with a half teaspoon of brown sugar in it.
You could try drinking lots of fresh orange juice yourself as well to see if it helps x

Thanks girls, can,t get hold of hv till tomorrow. I,ve googled it and by all accounts she shouldn't be constipated, but she keeps straining and crying but not managing anything. Just a couple of wet farts, sorry tmi lol. When she does go it is soft, but I,ve heard that that doesn't matter.

I had to resort to getting a tin of prunes in pear juice, a teaspoon in 2 ounces of water, cos the orange juice didn't work. I had to warm the water well cos he just spat it out otherwise. Maybe if you eat prunes the goodness will go to LO? xxxxxxxx

If when she does poo its soft, it's not classed as constipation hun. Only if the poo is hard do they have constipation

The best thing is to massage the tummy and keep lifting legs up to chest to work the wind/poo out.

It's not uncommon for them to go a good few days with pooing

Thats what I thought, she just seems to try so hard to poo and not do anything then gets upset.

It's prob just trapped wind. Go on you tube and search for colic massage- this usually helps Harry when he's got trapped wind. We do the massage with a bit if olive oil

I think the key though is to do the massage regularly.

Try not to worry too much x

Thanks I will do, I,ve also thought trapped wind but she burps fine. What ever it is it,d better pass soon lol

If all else fails gripe water always gets Harry trumping!!

Harry is fine with burping, but not so good with farting!
