just wondering if anyone hd done any of the national holiday or the like coach holidays to the christmas markets?

Really fancy the Lille one but wondered if it was worth it? The one i have seen works out at £109 for 3 days for coach transfers, ferry for 2 nights kip, 2x breakfasts and 2x 5 course evening meals on the ferry, transferes for the market on the tuesday and back on the wednesday and hotel stay on tuesday night (i think)

what you recon? are they nice to go to?

My mum and dad tend to do one a year and they really like them.... It sounds very good value!!

nI love the idea of the abroad ones, but i cannot afford it. Thankfully Lincoln isn't too far so i go to their yearly one.

We went on a day trip one to Vienna in 2000. It was lovely. It was a works thing with Ford. Very generous, it was our boss who arranged it though.

For a cheaper alternative, I'd recommend Birmingham

We have a fantastic German market come over from Frankfurt. Gorgeous stalls, beer, food and Gluwein mmmmmmmm!!!!

thanks guys....

Minxy...i may do that too lol...its gonna be a real good time though...its gonna be just me and mum for a few days together :D iv not had a break away (as in over seas, well anywhere actually) in over a year so will be nice to look forward to a mini holiday :D

On the plus side, if we do go to Lille or the like on the ferry...my mum hates boats so she will be very very smashed and we will be staying in bunk beds....could make for some hillarious drunk/falling over mum pics :D (yes she would do the same to me :rotfl: )

Oh im excited i want to go now :cheer:

Cheers Jo ill look into them too :) Nice mother daughter bonding

If you want an abroad one, I recommend Colmar and Riquewihr in the Alsace. Absolutely enchanting for Christmas!

Tenner bet we wont buy anything when me and mum go (except lots and lots of wine and other booze :shhh: hehe) but gotta be a great atmoshphere :D

I went on one to minehead (not a shopping one) and it was full of old dear who smelt of wee  :rotfl:

I can recommend the Christmas markets in either Belgium (Brussels or Bruges) or in Germany (Oberhausen; avoid the one in Aachen as it's overcrowded) which all have fab food and drink. I went to the one in Brussels last year, but couldn't drink cos I thought I was still pregnant. Didn't matter, though. Had lovely hot chocolate. YUM!

Looks like me and mum are def going to Ostend to stay and Bruge Market :D

its a 4 day trip so will be a nice little break for us :D

Me and Mum went to the Cologne one last year (went via Eurostar, very easy) had a great time but the very best thing about Cologne was the Lindt chocolate factory, I spent a fortune on chocolate for everyone for christmas (and for me of course :D ) but the Lindt cafe sold the best hot chocolate I have EVER had, better than Betty's in York, better than Harrods, better than M & S, better than anywhere! I want to go back but not so much for the markets, more for Lindt :rotfl:
