Would you go for something longer/traditional or something slightly more practical and shorter. This is for a little boy's baptism and will only ever be worn the once. These are not final choices but a selection of similar type pictures I kinda thought I'd find. If possible I'd like it made from my wedding dress but I just thought I'd throw this out there to get an idea of styles etc people would go for. TIA xx

Sorry about the size I've re-sized them a zillion times and they are still coming up HUGE! xx

To be honest I'm not keen on any of those - think it might be the material I would've thought tho if it was made from your wedding dress then it would fall much nicer. I think also it would depend on how old the baby is when he is being baptised as the last two my be more appropriate.

My mum made two robes for both my sisters children and they were a similar style to the first one but in a softer fabric so they kindof flowed. All 6 of my nieces and nephews were christened in them but they were all done before they were 6 months old so the 2 boys "got away" with the dresses  . My mum died 7 years ago so I will have to choose one of the two she made - haven't decided yet.

If i were to go for one for a boy then it would have to be one of the last two as i dont really like the idea of putting a boy in a long dress thing. I know its not traditional but hey.

Oh I'm not keen on the material either...hence just wanted ideas as to syles etc. Baby will be around 2-3 months when he's baptised. I think it's lovely your mum made the two you have to choose from. My mum's in the throws of trying to find the gown my sister and I were christened in but honestly I think with the amounts of moving house etc over the years that it's long gone.

No, thanks that's exactly what I'm after just with a little boy who'd choose what type of thing. I wouldn't be going for any of these gowns/patterns just wanted to throw the types of styles out there for opinion really. Thanks!

Hiya

Not sure if you seen it or not but COnal was christened in this

I was like you a but unsure of my man in a dress but it's more for tradition than anything else my brother, sister and me wore it an so did my daughter if your going to keep it for other babies as well go for 2 bit not keen on the collar if not go for 4

I would choose shorter and although I picked 4 I also like 5. I personally don't like the idea of a dress on a little boy.

Thanks for the input ladies....DH seems to think a "dress" is a silly idea which suprised me since he's a very traditional kinda bloke actually. Anyway mum's on the hunt for the gown my sister and I were christened in (I think it's long since gone) and I'm sussing out people who can make one from my wedding dress material etc so fingers crossed!!

I know it's alternative and maybe you want traditional but would you consider having a waistcoat and trousers made from it? Jacob wore a beautiful cream velvet three piece sut and looked beautiful - or on the other hand - sailor style?
