Child Benefit-How long?

How long did it take till you started receiving your child benefit.

I applied for Calleigh's when she was a week old, she is now 10 weeks old and i have yet to hear anything.
I know they received the forms from me as i had her birth cert back within a week.

Is it normal to wait this long or shall i chase them for it?

ive had my 1st payment already and only sent the forms about 3 week ago, id defo chase it up.

I'd chase them. I applied as soon as i got her registered, received the letter a week later and the following week i got 2 weeks worth. So took 2 weeks in total.

I am not happy. Been phoning to chase up Calleigh's child benefit and i can never get through. Keep getting the 'we are receiving a high number of calls blah, blah, blah........ please try again later'

i recieved mine within a week

Child benefit took about two weeks, tax credits only came through yesterday Applied at the same time

Well i finally got through to them yesterday, only to be told that he didnt have access to what i needed to know on his comp and could i ring the number back to try and get another operator WTF. Asked why he could just not transfer me he said he couldnt
So rang back luckily got through straight away again, the lady has no idea why i havent received anything as it has been quite a while. She has now referred me to the Dept of Work and Pensions who are supposedly going to ring me back in the next 72 hours.
What a kafuffle

Well they just rang and apparently the money will be in my account on Friday
