:D Hope this doesnt sound too thick, but does anyone know when I can give Freya the above? and also spaghetti? I am confused as they do contain salt but I know its minimal. I am not all that great at cooking from scratch and do use jars of ragu, I want to get her eating the same as us and for breakfast she is bored of porridge and Hipp weetabix, thanks in advance.......

The only issue I think would be with the salt and sugar content. I think (but please check with your HV - I can't remember where I saw that) they can have up to a gram a day of salt. I never use salt in cooking, but there is salt in cheese and other foods Charlotte would eat, so you can't eliminate it completely. The problem with processed foods is that they tend to contain much more salt than you would think and so it would be easy to go over the limit - even for adults. I know regualr weekabix is fine - I just give different fruit to go with it for breakfast and she doesn't seem to have got bored (yet!!). I would check out the packets carefully and compare to the levels in processed baby food - I assume these will have been approved as safe.

Thanks for that, I thought regular weetabix has salt in it? My post sounded like I always use processed foods- I really don't just when I make bolognaise I use ragu, and on the odd ocassion if I have beans or spaghetti, is it ok to give her some.
She is bored with her baby weetabix and porridge so will try adding different fruit, maybe that will make it more interesting for her - thank you again for replying.

My dr gave me a tip for using ragu sauces etc for spag bol. SHe said if we do use it to add a tin of plum tomatos to it as that helps to break down and reduce the salt content.
As long as its not for everymeal your LO will be fine eating those things hun.

Thanks Melanie, thats a really good tip!
