Hiya,

I am thinking of changing to follow on milk but I have a few questions that some of you might be able to answer.

How do you know that the time is right to move to follow on? - Our wee man is eating 3 meals a day and has got into a really good routine and don't wnat to upset it in any way.

Can I just change straight away? - I don't want to upset him with a change in taste or give him an upset tummy.

Can I jump between SMA WHite and SMA Progress?

It says that SMA White is ok up to 1 year, so do I really have to change just now? xxx

I cant advise re SMA as we use Aptamil, but I swapped to the follow on when Jenna turned 6 months. I didnt phase it in - just started it when the bow of first milk was finished. She is also on 3 meals a day. No problems at all - I checked the contents list of both and therer were very few differences - the main difference was the quantity of iron.

We changed from SMA Gold to Progress.
I think the Progress is thicker like the White.
I phoned up the SMA helpline before I switched and was told to get my LO's milk intake down to 18oz per day before switching otherwise if my LO took more than 18oz of the Progress it would spoil her appetite.
I would suggest giving the helpline a call if you have any queries.

Thanks.

He is having 20oz a day at the moment.

That was one of the things I was wondering about. I wasn't sure about the hole appetite thing as the SMA White is for hungrier babies and I didn't know if the progress would have the same effect as the white with regards to taking longer to digest. (does that make sense?)
