Hey,

Does anyone know how easy it is to change hospitals very last minute? or if you can just call one if you are in the area , and not near where you are booked in to?

I am wanting to go and stay with my mum when my leave starts. But she lives in a different city.

I finish work officially 12 days before I am due!!

Hi im not changing hospitals but will be changing midwife/doctors as im moving to another district. Im a bit nervous how quick this will happen too. Theysaid just to register straignt away when i move - i presume i will get priority as ill be nearly due. Will be in same hospital just further away from it! I prese you would have to register with a doctors surgery asap and they would refer to to the local hospital?? I spoke to a friend the other day who moved from a different borough to where i live an she said as it was a different borough she had to have all the scans and formal meetigs with the hospital from scratch! This meant a 12 weeks scan at 32 weeks!!! Sounded mad! So id say just make contact with a gp asap!

I'm trying this at 37 weeks - I'll let you know how it goes!

Well...my sister in law went to one hospital and was refused to be seen there whilst she was in labour and they sent her to another hospital. So yea...you can just go to another hospital. As long as you have your notes. That's all they care about

My friend was visiting her family up North and she ended up going into labour early.

I too am changing at 37 weeks, moving from London to Devon! I think as long as you have your notes think its ok...I have been told I may get a health visitor contact me to check that i haven't got any mental heath problems im hiding from but that will be fine.

My plan is when i get down to devon to contact the midwifes..i imagine they will book an apointment to go through my birth plan and notes but other than that im sure it will be fine.

I've just transferred hospital at 28 weeks. Long story but wanted to change to a hospital 15 minutes away. I had a booking appointment at the new hospital and that was it. Not particularly difficult, no extra scans. But if you look at this way, if you're in labour they are hardly going to turn you away from a hospital and say 'no you must travel 100 miles away' are they so if you turn up I'm not sure they can do anything! X
