Hiya

Girls

Have any of you decided if you are buying your baby food already made or are you making it yourself ?

I was thinking about doing mine myself but i dont know weather i dare or not just incase i messed up .

I am hoping to make all Jakobs food myself...I will also be steaming his veg rather than boiling it so i can keep the minerals in, (well i have got to use my steamer for something)

I am going to start cooking and freezing next month, and if Jakob carries on the way he is going he will want baby rice by 12 weeks im sure! :)

I'm planning on getting a blender and making food for my son myself

Wend, give it a go. You've got nothing to lose hun

Fresh, much better, cheaper, much better taste and more likely to be less fussy I think as their used to your cooking, good or bad. lol

Yep, and free from colourings, preservatives and flavourings

Yep those too. :)

I used to cook especially for Ryan just once a week for a few hours, all different meals and freeze them. So much simpler in the long run and it's ready when you need it.

What a great idea. I think i'll do that too :)

PS Love the Garfield signature

Alfie still a bit too young for solids but a really hungry baby so hes on them already i plan to make his food myself when hes about five months old but for now hes having the powder mix because im a bit scared too lol

I watched a program on tv quite a while ago and it was about vitamin depresciation in fruit and veg from all teh travelling it does to get to this country so its worth using british fruit & veg if poss.

Dior had tin foods only i never knew any different and Harley started of on tins, but the past 2 months he only has fresh food.

he would not eat his dinners from a jar and was always refusing i thought he would never touch veg untill i gave him some from my roast dinner and he loved it. now i am trying more and more different sauces etc. its fun and i feel such a buz seein him full after a nice home made dinner

Lydia had both. I started off by trying to give her 90% freshly prepared but it kinda gradually slipped into something like 50-50.

Now though she has 90% what we're eating though. The only time I will give her a jar now (one of those 15 month Hipp Organic jars) is if we're having something that is too spicy for her. Other than that she eats what we eat.

Good isn't it, use it if you want, I didn't make it, I just changed the size.

I did used to use jars for when I was out, that was it. :) A friend of mine, her son is the same age and she has an older daughter, her son had nothing but jars until past 2 years old! He is such a fussy eater now.

im going to give madi all home made

in sainsburys they do a book of how to makee over 100 dinners for 4+ months so i will be getting that

the only time she will have a jar is if we are in town so it will be alot easier

Leorah has food intolerances through my breastmilk so I've been advised to leave weaning until 6 months. I'm going to do baby led weaning where the baby feeds themselves solids that they can pick up with their fists, no blending and freezing but lots of mess

I made mine myself last time.

Quick,easy and cheap :D

I used to make a few batches at a time and freeze them.

May be nothing to do with it but I've always found ever since that my lo's have never disliked vegetables or fruit, infact they love it and even now, chips etc are a rarity in our house.

If you have the time fresh is cheaper and easier but obviously peoples circumstances don't always allow
