I have been going to zumba classes for a few months and really enjoy it. Is it safe to continue during pregnancy?? I haven't been since I found out just in case . Im not seeing my midwife for another couple of weeks yet so wondered if anyone had any info on this sort of thing. I've looked on the net and found mixed answers

I would say no as it's very high energy. I used to go too and when I asked my midwife and doctor both said stick to the brisk walking and swimming.

My doctor said to stick to the same activities as before as long as I don't let my heart rate raise too much (when you can't speak for example while doing an activity) and to avoid sports that me or the bump can get hit like football, maybe bicycling in case that you fall down etc.
But if you are not well trained it's not the case to start now an intensive thing ifykwim...
A well trained person Dosent raise its heart beat while doing normal levels for him exercise.
On other thing to concern is overheating... You shouldn't exercise to the level that you ate sweating like hell...
I kept hiking and climbing hills etc but I got a hand pulse monitor and I stopped every time that my hear rate was above 120 or I got sweaty. I also made sure that I drank enough water constantly.

Thanks for the advice. Think I will leave the zumba til next year!! Will have to try to keep walking and swimming. I put loads of weight on in my first pregnancy and don't want to do the same this time!

I zumba'd until 28 weeks. Would've carried on but I just couldn't manage it. If u were doin it before u fell pg its safe to carry on, exercise is a good thing! X
