Can I ask a stupid question??

welcome

It's not a stupid question hun.

A chemical pregnancy is when you get a positive pregnancy test but then your period arrives. It is likely that an egg was fertilised and some of the hcg hormone was released to give a + pg result, but for whatever reason the egg was not viable enough to implant, therefore you lose the baby.

If you test with early pg tests this can sometimes happen, if you wait until your AF is late then it is less likely that will happen.

Apparantly it can be quite common to have a chemical pregnancy, ladies just normally think they are having AF if they have not tested.

A chemical pregnancy is where the embryo implants but for whatever reason does not manage to survive.

A fertilised embryo on its own does not cause a rise in HCG, it has to implant for this to happen.
