Breastfeeding and periods...

May seem like an odd one but anyways...

I started my proper periods again this week(boo! Had a small one at 6 weeks pp but then nothing) and since then, I don't know if it's coincidental or not as it started at exactly the same time, but my lo (6 mo) has started feeding more and waking 2 hourly at night for a feed... anyone else have any experience of this? He has always been rubbish at night but not to this extent!

Midwife told me when my lo was a few days old that they have growth spurts at 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months which can mean they wake more to feed, could it possibly be that? Have you started weaning?

Can't help you with the period thing as I haven't had one yet. My lo is 5.5 months.

Yeah I've started weaning. I was just concerned about my supply but maybe it is a growth spurt? Just a bit coincidental that it started at exactly the same time... x

Don't worry about your supply. If lo feeds your body will know to produce the milk and it will be there.

Have you got the wonder weeks book/app it's really good to tell you when lo is having a change In development and what to expect etc

I seem to remember that I read somewhere that your period can effect your milk supply slightly but it's nothing to worry about because it's only temporary.

Yes, I've got the app on my phone... he's always fussy though so hard to pick out when he is extra fussy lol. Still feeding 2 hourly during the day(he was going 3-4 hours) so something is definitely going on... I don't feel so 'empty' now when he wants a feed, think my body has upped the supply xxx
