what breast pump do you recommend? help! lol

I use the tommee tippee handheld one, but I only express occasionally. Also my milk comes out very quickly. The midwife who came round said that I expressed off as much with the manual breast pump in 10mins as somebody does normally in 30mins, so I am very lucky. I do like the bottle which came with it, they are more breast shaped than some. I had bought a couple of extra bottles (the mothercare self sterilising ones) and she didn't get on with there shape at all. It also comes with a sterilising box which is handy.

NB if you are having problems with breast feeding I would highly recommend going to breast feeding support drop in clinic in your area. They were fantastic at the Royal Berks in Reading.

Hi,

I used the avent ISIS uno (electric) breast pump and found it fab! I could just sit in front of the telly and express and my hand didn't get sore pumping (had tried the manual avent and found it alot of work). On the downside it is very expensive....I think it was about £80 but we got boots gift vouchers as pressie so I spent them on that :D

i suppose it depends on how long you plan to express for and how much money you want to spend

As you are exclusively pumping I would recommend asking your SCBU ward if they know of any where that hires out the elctric pumps that are used in hospitals as they are more effective then oher pumps. In terms of "commercial" pumps I have both the avent isis and the medula electric and find them both great. Your HV should know of somewhere that you can hire pumps from, then you could try befor you buy.

my scbu unit has lent me an eletric breast pump to use untill madi comes home :cheer:

thats great, and when Madi has got the hang of breastfeeding you won't need such a strong pump so I would get any of the ones mentioned. Ebay has some great bargains on at times.
