Hi ladies,

So I'm only very early in my pregnancy and a few days after my bfp I found a lump on my breast, about an inch round and just above my nipple. I went to the Dr today and he checked it and got a bit serious about it and has referred me for a biopsy. I had assumed it was a blocked milk duct or something, has anyone had lumps during pregnancy on their boob? You can't see it, just feel it. I'd really appreciate any stories from experience, google isn't helping! Thanks  xx

No experience with this but didn't want to read and run. Breast lumps are quite common and it could have been brought on by the hormonal changes that's going on with your body in early pregnancy. It's good to hear that your doctor has taken it seriously although I can imagine how worried you must feel about it. I would've thought it's most likely a blocked duct or just a collection of fatty tissue or something. Most lumps that are found in the breast turn out to be benign. My SIL had one and everything turned out to be fine.

All the best xx

Thank you. I had a lump removed a couple of years ago, which thankfully was just a cyst and was tiny compared to this one. I'm worried but I think deep down I believe it's something pregnancy related as I found it so soon after my bfp. Xx

Nothing to add apart from to wish you luck with the biopsy x

I've not had any during pregnancy but have had a large fibroadenoma removed when I was 16, and I developed a small lipoma at the edge of the scar tissue a couple of years ago. Both were taken very seriously because gp's just can't tell from feeling the lump. Turns out mine were and are benign but breasts go through so many changes. Great you've noticed a change and getting it properly checked. My mum is now a year on from her breast cancer diagnosis which was only found during a routine mammogram, she got the all clear in November :) good luck!

I've also had a fibroadenoma removed before - I don't know at all if this is a reliable way to 'test' it but I know they have the nickname "breast mice" because they move under the skin if you press to the side?! (I really hated that mine did that, it freaked me out!)

Good job you're getting it checked though, let us know how you get on xx

Thank you. Since reading that I've been trying to see if it moves, it's a good job I'm on my own as I look like I'm just copping a feel of myself! I'm hoping it is a 'mouse', I've noticed it's under a particularly veiny bit on my boob, although I don't know what the relevance of that is! Xx
