Hi girls. Well it's day 5 and I have learnt ralph is a guzzler!! He wants boob constantly and it's really starting to get me down.. I think cause he can be on my boObs for a while and gosh they hurt after!!! Do you know if I could start expressing so my oh can help with feeding? How do I introduce formular? Thanks xxx

He's just working to increase your supply. It is very important to let him eat as much as he wants right now. Get comfy in front of the tv with lots of water and snacks and relax. I had a day where K was literally on my boob for 8 hours straight. It is normal and necessary. You are doing great!

Haha!!

Have u got lanisonah for your sore nips?

Don't express yet or give formula if you can help it. Make sure everything you need is within arms reach and just enjoy cuddling and feeding LO. Can't be much help with the pain afterwards it could just be a temporary thing while your milks coming in.

If you can, keep going! It gets easier but to start with they do feed and feed. That way you increase your supply, it's not because you're doing anything wrong.

Lanisoh cream was my life saver, its about £10 but definitely worth every penny!

Day 5 Henry was latched on all day. I was sore but persevered. It's do worth it. Totally normal. I agree, get a supply of drinks and snacks and get comfy. Ralph is increasing ur supply of milk. It's his first growth spurt :)

Yes, I agree with everyone else, my LO was like that for the first few weeks. I found it tough at first & got sore but it does honestly get easier & your nipples toughen up. You need to build up your supply so use it as an excuse to sit & watch tv, forget everything else! I just wish someone had told me about it beforehand as I thought I was doing something wrong or not producing enough milk! It's totally normal though x

You do what is best for you Hun. Happy baby means happy mummy and vice versa. But if you intend to continue breast feeding, I would wait until breast feeding is well established before introducing the bottle. I think it's about 6 to 8 weeks but not 100% sure. It does get easier though. I found after the second week it just instantly eased up for me. The pain was no longer there. Breast feeding is such a wonderful thing. Free, on tap, no sterilising or faffing. Felt so gutted I had to give up at 14 and a half weeks. :-( But, like I said, do what's right for you. You and your baby's happiness is priority.xx

That's how i felt this week like I was not producing anything or I was doing it completly wrong and he was starving! but since milk has come in which was yesterday morning he seems fuller for longer. X

You are doing great, I found for the first 4/5 weeks I just sat on the sofa lol as she seemed to feed constantly or sleep on me, she went longer if I went out. But once established breast feeding is so much easier and the other day I worked out that feeding her for nearly 14 months I have saved over a £1000 from not feeding formula and that doesn't include buying bottles etc. Nor do you have the hastle of sterilising everything. (She never took to a bottle so couldn't express)

yeah the first 7 days are the hardest but it does take a few weeks for it to get all sorted. watch out for the 4 week growth spurt too, that threw me cos i had a lot of bf problems and thought i had it cracked at 4 weeks just for her to want to feed constantly again and it all go to pot lol, now i combi feed as i refuse to give up bf completely but id much prefer to bf exclusively. stick with it hun, it is so hard at times and i know how often i felt like giving up but its so much easier once you get past 6 weeks
