Bleeding Question

How long are you supposed to bleed for after giving birth?

It's been 11 days since I gave birth and I have almost stopped bleeding for the last 4 days I have only bled in an afternoon then there is nothing else until the next afternoon. I'm not sure if it's normal or not for this to happen.

it varies from person to person. my heaviest discharge stopped after about a week but i had to wear pads for another 2 weeks. other people here have had lochia for about 5 weeks i think... you sound completely normal anyway hon x

yeah mine went on for nearly 5 weeks, kept stopping and starting. think everyone is different

I was going to ask a similar question because bethany is 3 weeks old tomorrow and i have started bleeding again yeterday not sure if its my period or not though, not sure when this would normally happen

Mine's stopped completely now. Nothing for about a week or 2 now in fact but it did start and stop for those 4 or 5 weeks I did bleed for.

I bled for nearly 2 weeks - not heavy, but had lochia for a further 4! Its only just stopped! I had a c-section, so it might have been a bit different for me!
