its been 8 days now since i had leah, and about 2 hours ago i started with pains very similar to contractions and a pain in my groin.
so i had a bath and when i got out, there was blood pouring down my leg.
it wasnt thick and red... more like watery and pink.
is it normal so long after her birth?
and how long do the pains last??

I bled like that on and off for 6 weeks after my 1st. The bleeding would completely stop for a day or 2 then I would get like cramps and it would start up again. I think it pretty normal at only 8 days.

i didnt have watery pink, but im pretty sure i was still bleeding 8 days after the birth, could it just hav been blood diluted with the water from the bath? as for pains, i got them when i was BFing for about a week or so, BFing pulls ur uterus back down quicker i was told thats what the pain was. made sense as i only really felt them while BFing. if ur concerned tho ask ur MW about it if u not been signed off yet

thanks for replies. the pain lasted about 3 hours and was like a constant contraction.. then it stopped and the bleeding stopped.
maybe there was some blood left over and the only way it could get out was by contracting?
its stopped now and havent had it since.
was just worrying cos it felt like i was in labour again lol

Hiya Kimbo, you ok now?

I had this something simillar a few days befroe the bleeding stopped. Its probably just your body making extra effort to get rid of what ot doesnt need anymore, and 8 days is so not long either to be bleding still, some people can bleed on and off up to 6 weeks.

But your breastfeeding as well so the pains will be that much stronger cos when your little girl feeds shes helping your uyerus shrink back to normal :D

its like that after ur second..u might pass a clot over the next few days

oh, the dreaded afterpains...i had this for about 2 weeks after. it really hurt. it was worse than my actual labour in my opinion (and that was unreal) the midwives assured me that it does happen, is perfectly normal and not to worry.

i also bled for weeks without pain.

hope you feel better soon.xx

sounds pretty normal to me hun, and it is much worse with ur 2nd baby  i bled for 13 weeks after having ryan :(

I had the same as Grace, and ended up going to the hospital as I was in agony and was doubled over, really scary!!!!! Thought I was going into labour again, was not amused that no one warned me, but i suppose its different for everyone. xx   xx
