I had Adam in a midwife led centre but it was attached to Liverpool Women Hospital. I did have to be checked in the hospital when i first went in and it was quite hectic but once i was transfer it seemed alot calmer and made my experiance alot more natural. I would recommend it but just double check how far the hospitals are away just incase x x
I had this perfect image of midwife led centre or home birth. But had to go to hospital to be induced. I had severe complications & if I'd been at home or a midwife led centre I would have died. I would recommend a birthing centre attached to a hospital for first time mums (only my opinion). This way if there are any complications you have medics on hand. That way you know both you & baby are in good hands. If your first birth goes well then go for it second time around. Unfortunately due to what happened last time I have to have my 2nd in hospital, but i'd rather me & baby be safe.
I'm sure I heard that they for uncomplicated pregnancies and u can't have epidurals or anything. I think I'd rather be in a hospital where all the experts are and medicine if I need it
I was going to be having my baby in a birth centre but they closed it down along with the maternity ward at the hospital it was attached to so now I have to go another hospital that does not have a midwife led birthing unit!!
I think birthing centre is fine for a first baby as long as your pregnancy has been uncomplicated if its what you want I had both mine at midwife led units and they were perfectly fine midwives know what they are doing and they check heartbeat all the time during labour if they detect the slightest problem they will act on it straight away x
If everything goes ok I'm going to give birth in the MW unit. It's actually within the hospital so there wouldn't be problems getting to the labour ward if I had to.
