I really want a big play mat so that Emma can roll and move about, at the moment she has a smaller one with arches over it. Has anyone got a good one they can recommend? It needs to be at least 1m by 1.5m.

That looks great, but eek so expensive! I have looked on Ebay, but they get bid up to quite expensive anyway. Maybe they are all quite pricey?

I got the Noah's Ark one from Blooming Marvelous (sorry, don't have time to find a link!)

It's massive, but it was (in my opinion) pricey....but worth it!

We bought a single bed quilt in ikea - it's huge and I actually use it folded in half. It was about a tenner (I think we paid about 15 Euros for it in France Ikea) and you couldn't buy the material for that to make one yourself.

Thanks guys - it looks as tho they are all about £35, but great tip about the Ikea bed spread, now theres an idea . . .

I used to use a duvet cover on the floor when Austin was little, but I'm going to get these for this baby I think they're fab!

Ha, I have a cunning plan - I am going to bid on cheap playmats on ebay and sew 4 of the same type together!!!

We were in the same boat so I just got a normal happy safari one from mothercare and even that was £30 so £35 for a huge one isn't bad at all :)

I have this one :D its replaced my living room rug!!

Why dont you get a set of 4 rubber mats from ELC I think they are 4 for £10 they may not have things to play with on but they wipe clean really easy and I just add toys on it so my baby can roll (try) and get stuff, nice and soft! Also great for when they get older for either putting under there potty or for them to sit on when eating.

That looks brilliant! I was planning to get a big rug for Louis's bedroom but now that I've seen this big mat I've changed my mind :D

the nct group has a big play mat which is made up of soft rubber 'jigsaw' pieces. it's really good cos it's easy to wipe clean and still soft. I think it might be an asda thing or at least i've seen something similar and I'm going to try and get my own to keep in my mums place in spain since the tile floors won't be very baby friendly.

My final decision with this is now that I use a big throw on the floor and put the playmat with arches on it and a seperate small playmat on it, then lots of toys over the throw and her bumbo, bouncy chair on the throw. It turns my living room into babyzone with the door bouncer in place too!!! :D

We went for these (might have been another seller but the same thing anyway):-

...as we have floorboards so with these we just made our whole front room into one huge play room until he was walking very confidently. They wash easily and when he fell over a lot when learning to walk etc they really helped as it acted like the soft surface in a play area. Couldn't recommend them enough!
