Just got back from seing my midwife...

1st measurement she took was about 45cm

She tried again and it was 41cm

Then managed to do it as tight as she could and got 39cm...and i'm not even 39 weeks til next wednesday!

She then felt my belly and the look on her face was something close to....

she said to the other midwife ''Julie!! Get this girl an appointment to see a consultant and a growth scan, this baby is HUGE''

Well I have a scan next thursday but everything else is fine and she's 2/5ths engaged too!

Bp is fine, heart is beating fine, forgot the bloody wee sample but ah well...!

Please pray for my poor muff lol if the baby is as big as people think...

She also asked me how tall I am and what feet size I am, I think it was to get a good idea of the size of my pelvis, well i'm about 5''8 and size 6 feet, is this good?

Don't understand why they are sending me for a scan thursday, I could have had her by then

But everyone is saying that if she's too big then they will probably deliver her by section or induce me early!

Did you have any indication you were having a big girl until today??

Your poor muff, that made me laugh, I am concerned for your fadgey now hun but im sure it will be fine...if she is really that enormous they will give you a section wont they.

Like you say, you think they would scan you sooner as you may go into labour before then. Did you say that to the MW??

Jamie came out measuring 54cms and that was 40wks+2days, ur little girl could b a supermodel if shes got long legs!!

No I wish i'd of said something now...

I was just in so much shock, It doesn't feel like there's something that big inside me, and I havn't put much weight on, i'm just normal me with this HUGE bump!

I always thought the baby wouldn't be on the small side, but never would of thought she'd be big enough to cause concern!

Try not to panic though hun, you are in the very best care under the midwifes and they will advise you to do whatever for the right reasons.

You never know it could be fluid and LO could come out weighing a nice 7lb or something!

My midwife was like that with my second baby,she was feeling my tummy and saying that i was gonna have a very big baby ,anyway my daughter was 2 weeks late and weighed 7lb 13oz,so they don't always get it right ,good luck for your scan though hun xx

my sisters baby was 9lb 14oz, she cam out with no stitches/tears etc...

hope if my baby is large then i'll be the same!

dont worry if u do end up having a section jade, they know what theyre doing and all u have to do is take it easy!!

plus like nikki said, they dont always get the measurements right - i was meant to have a nice 6lb bubba but ended up with an 8lb 14oz whopper!!

Your 5'8 thats pretty tall hunny, proberly why shes big.

I'm only 5'5

I don't think theres anything to worry about, shes just tall like her mummy that's all

I am 5'8 with size 8 feet.....there is a direct link to the size of your feet and the circumfrence of your pelvis.......

If you have really small feet there may it may be a tight squeeze, don't think you will have too much of a problem with size 6 though....

have heard of that but not sure how it works except your feet will fit exactly along your forearm......... weird eh! Its all mathematical and was first discovered by davinci.. what a clever guy.

I measured 40cm today..she said it was completely normal you are allowed to be 3cm above or below you're dates...but it took her 3 attempts to get a measurment? one at 45 the next at 41 ?

My sister was told she would be expecting a 9-10lber by all the docs and midwifes and she was actually had a 7lber so dont worry too much..i have been told im expecting a 8 and a half pound babes but my family all think im expecting a small baby...maybe you have alot of water aswell?

everyone has told me not to worry as the estimates are usually wrong.

Her head is engaged though but her bum is right at the top of my bump, so she's gonna be tall i reckon, me and Oh are about 5''8 which aint exacly short. She's all on the right side at the minute I think too.

My midwife has been doing it for about 32 years or so, so it was quite a shock that she's worrying about it. But she said she'd rather send me for a growth scan and the baby be about 6lb odd and look thick than let me go on as normal and have a huge baby and difficult delivery, which is fair enough.

Might not even go til next thursday but if I do, i'll find something out then.
