Decided to wean Harrison as he's ready. Just a few questions really, what can I mix with baby rice? And if I do mix with baby rice do I still make the rice up with his milk?

when i started givin ky some tastes before 6 months i mashed half a banana up with bit of milk and added that to baby porrige (never used baby rice, tastes like cardboard :puke: ) he still loves that now. Try a couple spoonfuls of sweet potato. he loved that too but not too much, im sure he'd eat a whole potato but it may re-appear with his ickle tummy! he also liked the banana custard hipp jars. we didnt really try much else. like i said he just had tastes rather than meals. The annebel karmel meal planner book has some great ideas.

I brought the baby rice to start with and she liked it and then tired the cereal and she loved that so never wanted the rice again  Glad I only got one box of rice! Hope it goes well for you, I jus went with my instincts.

dont add anything yet em or he'll never want baby rice ! it may taste plain to us but to them they dont know ! so for now its ok on it own , get him use to a new texture before new taste too !

then u can had baby puree to it ( fruit or even veg , gross to us nice to them lol )

I've added some pureed apple to the baby rice so far.

But actually, Oliver is doing really well just on fruit & veg purees. 2 weeks into weaning and he's tried: pureed - sweet potato, apple, parsnip, carrot, and also raw mashed banana & avocado.

It's amazing what a few tablesppons worth of food does to their nappies too :rotfl:

He's put on 14oz in the last 2 weeks, compared to only 3oz in the fortnight previous to that - guess he was deffo ready for weaning :cheer:

well I added some caulflower cheese to it last night and he gobbled it up!!

ordinary cauliflower and cheese :? Or the baby kind...? Ordinary cheese really shouldn't be given to babies under the age of 6 months. Cheese is basically gone off milk and salt...

The rule with weaning regardless of age or readiness is the 4 day rule... You should only introduce one new food/taste after 4 days of introducing another... so if you give apple on Monday you shouldn't introduce anything new until Friday... this is because so reactions to food can take a few days to show and if you introduce too many at once and your baby has a reaction you cannot tell what has caused the reaction. Like now, if Harrison (hopefully he won't ) gets ill, you won't know is he has problems with baby rice, cauliflower or cheese and you'll have to eliminate everything and start again... and thats such a shame if they love their grub like Harrison obviously does :(

Also try single tastes before mixing. It helps get them accustomed to fruit and veg and reduces the possibility of obesity in later life.

BTW is your site new... cards look funky :D
