As I mentioned in a previous post I was made redundant last August then taken back on by the same company but this time on a temp basis. At the time I was made redundant I applied for a similar role with another company. I was really keen to work for them but unfortunately they had just taken someone on.

Well they contacted me by email this morning to say that they would be very interested in meeting up with me as they now have a vacancy.

How do you think I should play this? I am due my baby on 24th May but would really love to get this job and start after my maternity leave...but that is about 1 year away as I will be taking the full 9 month mat leave.

The field I work in is quite specialised and there's not many people that live in this area that have the industry experience. So I have that in my favour.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could say in my reply?

Can you just accept their invite for interview, attend the interview and tell them face to face about the pregnancy / maternity leave etc? They aren't legally allowed to discriminate against you being pregnant at the interview etc. However, if you are serious about working for the company it's probably best to be honest with them from the start.

I hope it works out for you.

I agree - you have nothing to lose so go for it. If they want you for your specialised experience then they may be more likely to wait for you. It will be obvious (I assume at 30 weeks) you are pregnant when you go for the interview, I would not tell them beforehand.

Good Luck!
