Hi ladies ,

I've been on here on/off for a while now & I love how supportive everyone is during this journey everyone is going though.

I came off the pill April 2016 , there were no definite 'plans to conceive' at first we were just going to hope it happened didn't want to add any extra stress & I genuinely thought for some reason it wouldn't take long. I began charting my periods & ovulation etc.
A few months here & there have been missed due to us being busy or tired from moving house, work etc so we have missed a few opportunities but not many.

Feb this year was when we sat down & thought okay let's do this properly, started taking vitamins & used opks for the first time this month. Have covered everything I can think of apart from temp charting.

I know 12 months isn't that long as Drs now recommend TTC for 2 years before tests are done etc but I really thought it would of happened by now for us. Myself & OH are 26 & 28 both healthy, no reason why it shouldn't happen but is it worth going to the Drs or to wait another few months? I'm just feeling disheartened every month more than anything & wondered if anyone else had any similar stories ?

I have recently ovulated so should be 2/3 dpo now, have done everything we can this month as usual but not getting my hopes up.

Hopefully this month will be your month. If not, then it doesn't hurt to get the ball rolling with the docs. My friend went after trying for a year and they referred her and hubby straight away to check his sperm and make sure she was ovulating. Even if it's just a conversation that it's noted on your medical records you've been off bc for a year. Good luck!

Thank you! I think it's just taking that initial step & booking the appointment, once we've done it think we'll be a lot less stressed about it. i am tempted to suggest we tell the Drs it's been 2 years just to see if it gets us pushed quicker to be referred by someone.

We have been trying 4 months and feel upset its not happened so after a year I know you must be down. I wohld go to the docs for sure. In Scotland it is after 1 year and we are going after 6 months if not caught the egg to start the ball rolling as there is no harm !

Thanks Alexis hope you're well?
It is disappointing but somehow you just have to pick yourself back up & try again. All you can do really, if there is something slightly not right I suppose it's better to know now rather than weeks/months down the line.

This month I've felt so much better about it, strangely... I'm trying to take the pressure off with my impending hospital appointment :( definitely trying to leave it to chance, as I don't know if I'll need treatment on my abnormal cells. Ive not done any opk and I've kept myself as busy as I can. Ive also started running (of all things) finding the distraction helps. It was our First wedding anniversary this weekend and the hubby suprised me with a trip to Dublin! I didn't even realise it was my fertile window, I noticed I had that weird jelly discharge stuff, and checked my app. Felt quite good to not feel so stressed. Not sure if I'll be the same next month, but it's working for now. I'd definitely go to the docs and let them know how you are feeling and the worry it's causing. Ask for a female doctor maybe as they maybe can relate x

We have been trying very actively, DTD every other day at least for 24 cycles. We both have children from previous relationships and have fallen pregnant but lost at 6 weeks. It is very frustrating every month isn't it, just wondering and being aware of every symptom, trying not to eat or drink or breathe anything toxic...

Sorry to hear you're struggling!

It's so hard not to think or stress about, no matter how many ppl tell you to stop worrying and it'll happen eventually!

We've been trying since November but I started doing opks in Feb time. We just aren't catching and it's so frustrating!!

I hope it happens for you soon Hun xx

Thanks for the support it does give me hope reading everyone's success stories.
Tried opks this month and I got a line CD 19 but it wasn't very strong, maybe I've not been ovulating god knows

Trying to get my hopes up this month but it's hard not too. There's been so many BFPs this month already
Hopefully out luck will change soon ladies
X

Definitely. Keep us informed, im rooting for you :dust:

Book the appointment!! For a couple of reasons:

1. I think you could be wrong about the time you need to have been ttc for before they investigate. Mainly because I think it varies so much regionally. I heard all the "need to have been trying a year" advice but when I mentioned it to the nurse during a routine smear test appointment she made a call there and then to her colleague and they class 3 months off the pill as "out of your system" and hinted they'd have booked me in at about the 6 months mark if I'd asked sooner.

2. When I did book the appointment it was like a weigh had been lifted. This will sound mental but when I got home after making the appt there was a white feather on my doorstep and I honestly just felt like someone was telling me all would be ok. Anyway the appointment was booked on the Friday and I got my bfp on the Wednesday- so I got to cancel it and make a booking in appt with the midwife instead!!

Obviously I'm not saying that's the case for everyone and of course there are other people whose ttc journey is much longer than they ever imagined it would be. Mine was 15 months, so I do get how upsetting it can be, but I realise there are lots of people who take even longer. You just have faith that it will happen for you one day, it just took a little longer than expected (my friend having IVF says it's just a bit more scientific than she expected :) )

Bexta I am going to go to Docs in July if nothing happens by then as that will be 6 months trying for us. I want to go now for peace of mind but I know I wont get all the answers for months no doubt.

Thank you that's cheered me up quite a lot. I'm a firm believer in the white feathers! That was a sure sign if anything
I'll see how this cycle goes as I'm in absolute agony as if AF is coming & no sign what so ever praying I get my bfp soon

Bex I went the doctors yesterday, he was amazing. If you are going to do it go Monday if you can. Within the first 3 days of my AF they take bloods, then again at 21 days. They're also testing my hubby's swimmers, and I've an ultrasound booked to check for cysts. I feel so relieved x

Hey Hun, did you? That's amazing that they're helping & doing all the regular checks. It's definitely worth me doing by the sounds of it. Did you go with hubby or by yourself? Only reason I ask is because my partner works 12 hour shifts so it's difficult for him to find a time to take a morning off or something.

Made up for you though. Has AF showed yet, did you mention you were late but getting bfn? X

I'd go on my own for the first appt. They'll let you know when they're ready to involve your oh. X

No he's with another doctors, but they will get in touch with them to get his results. Like I say though they need to take it in the first 3 days of your period.

Still no AF. I told the doc it was negative Friday, and he said he tells his patients anything after a week missed period to test. Says my period is probably late due to stress. I'd have to agree with him lol x

Bexta any news yet, I booked to see the doc this Saturday ! X
