So the doctor told me to keep off my bike and take it easy until 12 weeks and I've ignored him.

I'm a skyride leader and ive been booked on a course for ages and it involved a practical on the bike so I didn't want to miss it. I also led a ride today too. I've probably cycled about 25 miles this weekend :oooo:

I feel ok (albeit really unfit and out of puff) but well enough to ride at a slow pace and take it easy.

I feel a little bit guilty but then I think i should stop being daft. :eh:

hmmm its a tough one, the doc has obviously told you not to do it for a reason

but as long as you really take it easy and not do as much as you would normally do etc etc i cant see the harm but then doctors know more than us lot lol

cycling stretches and tones the ligaments and muscles in your stomach area (as does excessive hoovering and reaching above your head etc) and until 12 weeks the placenta is very vulnerable and can easily rupture, there was a reason being told not to do it,

it was foolish of you to ignore g.p. BUT i'm sure its very rare for anything to happen statistics wise it cud be more precautionary so i just wudnt do it again if i was you xx

not to mention make the most of having an excuse to do nothing at all as once baby arrivs it NONE stop lol

I forgot to mention, the midwife told me it was ok if I wanted to cycle and it is unlikely that it would do any damage. She said the doctor probably said that because I'd had a previous mc to do nothing at all just in case. She did tell me the main problem with cycling is falling off.

Crikey when I think of the stuff I've been doing before I found out it fills me with horror but then mum's have done much worse and delivered healthy babies so try not to worry too much. Its just a precaution and a gentle reminder not to do the London to Brighton at 30mph xxxxxxx

I was told if you usually ride, gym , swim etc then you can carry on (obviously don't do 100 stomach crunches or major ab work) it's only if your not used to it and you suddenly start it can be dangerous :)

Glad you had a good wkend and feel good x x
