Well I'm on bed rest for a week. Went to the doctors yesterday as I'd spent Sunday night with tummy ache which gave me braxton hicks contractions throughout the night. Felt dizzy/sick - a bit like I'd eaten something that didn't agree with me. But generally felt really exhausted and fed up that since I fell PG I've gone from one illness to another. He took by BP and said it was a little high, took blood, and signed me off work for a week and told me to stay in bed. He thinks I've had a virus that my body isn't shaking, but wasn't happy about the regular BH and was even less thrilled about the BP.

Anyway I have just lifted myself out to put a potato in the oven. What on earth do you do 'in bed' when you're not sleeping / frolicking with DH???

Anyway, DH has given me instructions not to go on the computer so I'm not tempted to dial into work, so I'm not going to be around much over the next few days. Hope you all keep well & speak soon!

Oh dear - take it easy! Your poor thing. :hug:

sure bed rest extends to laying on the sofa watching DVDs so send the DH down the video shop for you... is what I would do, catch up on some girly movies I never get to see in the cinema!

I absolutely agree with topbird littlebump! Take care of yourself, catch up on your reading and just have some 'you' time.

Hi LB,

sorry to hear about your bed rest. :( I know it can be a real drag. I remember from my first one.

But it's like TopBird says bed rest does mean you can lay on the sofa too. Just means you don't do any housework, shopping, usual activities.

Get some nice comfy, warm pjs, a good book, a ready supply of fruit/snacks and drinks then prop yourself up on the sofa in front of the TV. When he has time perhaps OH can get you some pregnancy and women's magazines to read that way you won't feel to much out of it.

Hope your BP settles down soon. :hug:

hey, hope u feel better soon & u dont get too bored!

yeah get lotsa magazines and fruit, and perhaps some dvds.

do u hav a cat or a dog? stroking them is supposed to lower ur BP. i read that somewhere, and it appears to be true- last time i had mine done it was 110/70 and i'm always storking my little cats!

I had bedrest back in the summer, hated it because I wanted to be up and pottering around my house like normal. Anyway things I found to ammuse myself were:

* Laptop in bed (websites/emails etc)
* Reading
* TV/DVD's
* Running up the phone bill to anyone I knew who might not be working!!
* Wrote a few letters

It's kinda slow/boring time but think about your little bean and you somehow find the 'energy' to get through another hour or so without moaning. Ensure your comfortable though I had dreadful backache after a while from propping myself up at wierd (yet comfortable at the time) angles.

You'll get through it! :hug:

Hi Ladies - thank you for your replies & suggestions!! I've actually read the first book in about 18 months - fabulous! I'm back at the doc's today so hoping for good news re. BP and blood test results.

Hope everyone's been OK - will try and catch up on all the posts later!

Thanks!

BP is now marginal which is better than it was! Blood tests were all OK - Doc thinks I'm just really run down. I know this was good news, but in a way I was hoping they'd say something like I needed to increase iron levels as it would mean that there would be a magic tablet which would make me feel better - it's a be depressing to think I might feel this knackered for the rest of the pregnancy :( . Anyway, baby was happy and active as ever so is unaffected by me - that's the main thing. So a final 'restful' weekend then it's back to work on Monday.

Aww I'm glad it all went well LB.

Are you taking the Pregnacare tablets? They include iron in those I think. Maybe you could try increasing your intake of Vit. C to boost your immune system. Lots of citrus fruits could help.

Make sure you take it easy if you are back to work on Monday. Have a good weekend.

:hug:
