I want to start puttin money away every month for keeley's future does anyone of an high interest savings account i put her child's trust fund thing in nationwide but i want somewhere else for this money :)

ING give a good interest rate and there doing a cash isa with a rate of about 6%

Don't know if they do anything aimed specific to kids tho

You know you can pay monthly into the child trust fund to help boost that, I think they suggest a minimum of £10 monthly it's a wise idea as it's a faster way to earn interest than in a savings account.

Generally speaking you could have an ISA or similar for her, check out online savings accounts as they are generally less administration and thus a higher rate of intestest than those with a card or book you have updated in branch type thing.

I've been given some fantastic looking information from the HSBC but do shop around for things that suit your needs. Pop into the high street there are always a few banks there, ask for a child savings account leaftet (they are not usually on display so you will have to ask for them) and have a read through them all, if you can pay from your account to a savings account monthly via direct debit you'll often find that gives better interest than just paying in the odd £20 when you can afford it type thing...plus no reason you couldn't set the monthly DD for £5 and pay in additional when you have it.

Good luck with the search, do let us know what bank/account etc you come across that looks great interest wise....and remember if you open at say Bank A today and next year Bank B are doing a better rate you can switch the account to earn their interest and all it takes is 1 signature they do the rest so your not stuck with that one account for life if you don't like them or the rates change etc.

Have you thought of premium bonds? you dont earn interest but you have a big chance of winning money in their draw. i know a few people who have them and they often find they have won something. the downside is the minimum you can buy is £100 (which is why i dont yet have any!)

Im also looking for an ISA but not sure who to go with. We want a joint one as we will both be putting money in and we have £1,000 at the moment to open the account with.

If anyone can advise me too that would be great! We would like one where you have to give some notice to withdraw the money so that we can just take it out when we're skint!

Jo I have my ISA with the Abbey....my DH and I have seperate ones as it means if I save my limit for the year we can plough more into DH's and vice versa...basically means we can have double what a single account can hold as your only allowed one ISA per person so a joint one would use both your allowances. We opened ours with £1000 each also and have them with the Abbey - their are a few ISA's avaliable though so make sure you read/reseach/chat to staff about what one is right for you depending on how long your investing it for and so forth. xx
