Hiya all,
I will be getting induced on 27th July - due to me being type 1 diabetic. Bit nervy about the induction although it is somewhat bittersweet considering the heatwave were having lol
I will be 37 weeks and 4 days.
My son is now 6 and I was induced with him for the same reason at 37 +2. They used the gel pessary which after about 5 hours got me to 3cms when they decided they weren't happy with his heart rate and took me straight down for an emergency section!
This time, they say they wont be using the pessary as it can make "artificial" contractions stronger than "natural" ones...which brings in risk of previous c section scar bursting open!!! Apparently they are using what the doctor referred to as "balloon induction". As far as I can gather after researching is its basically a little balloon inserted into the opening of the cervix which slowly fills with water dilating the cervix to 4cms which is when the balloon falls out and they can break my waters.
Does anyone have any experience / advice / stories about this method?
Sh!tting myself!!!! A lot of people online say they needed gas and air ect... worried about the pain more than anything. Apparently they can leave it in for 12 hours which it seems is what they plan to do with me because I have to be there for 6pm
Sorry for the long post
