baby sunburn..?! advice/suggestions needed please..

You may have read my rant about the creche Ryan was in on Tuesday ( http://www.pregnancyforum.co.uk/forum/v ... hp?t=65348 ).

This is probably unrelated, maybe, but I'm still a bit worried.

When they handed him back to me, his face was bright red, and hot looking. I took him there in a fleece sleepsuit (as it was really cold outside) and a vest underneath. They said they took him out of the fleece thing as he was too warm, and was his face red because of teething? Which it could possibly be as he has one coming through at the moment so I put it down to that.

So when I took him outside he looked like this: (not his normal happy self, but then neither would I be if my face and teeth hurt and I'd not been fed )

Ok, but now his face is still bright red in the same places, and his skin there has gone dry and slightly peely. Basically like sunburn. His nose has started peeling this morning which has prompted me to write this. You can't see very well because of the lighting in our house but this is him this morning with his bright red cheeks even though he's not hot or anything. His nose and forehead are still the same amount of redness as the previous picture but you can't see them on this photo.

I'm just wondering what to do..?! I mean, the weather hasn't been hot or sunny in the slightest, we haven't been out all that much since Tuesday (didn't go out at all yesterday)... I just wonder what it is? Even if he was kept in his fleece at the creche, surely it wouldn't give him sunburn.

I don't know whether to go to the doctor or not. On the one hand there's not a lot they can really do. He was *really* out of sorts Tuesday, but is fine and cheerful now.

I just don't understand it that's all, and it's bugging me cos I want to know how my son got what looks like sunburn from a one and a half hour session in the creche.

looks like he has been sat to close to some sort of heating to me hun, like if you sit too close to a fire, they havent had him sat at the side of a raidiator have they(not purposly i mean ) but it does look a bit burn like

I can't remember how the heating was in there so I don't know... but that would make sense... hmm...

i would ask if they took the kids outside in the creche.. u can burn through cloud.. and babys skin is very sensitive.. poor ryan

It could just be his teething as Arianna's skin gets red and dry when she teeths, only lasts a couple of days at a time.

They didn't feed him, so I doubt they would have had any reason to clean his face...

and yeah it could be teething, but it's a bit random that he has been teething for a while now and I noticed such a difference straightaway and it's peeling...

I had another thought, could it be carpet burn? Like if he's been lying on his face maybe?

I don't know..

alanas face went really red and peely when she was teething, but thats strange to suddenly happen like that. could it be from wind outside?

Could it be exscma (sp) if he's been in the cold or somthing?

btw if ur worried bout it being sore.. u can always get some calamine lotion.. it wont harm even if its teething.. and its great for any burn.. hope hes better soon.. charls had rosey dry cheeks when she was teething never on ehr head or nose tho..i would ask the creche seriously..

Adele's going to look after Ryan next tuesday so he doesn't go back in the creche just yet. I do want him to mix with other babies but I want to sort all these problems out first.

Thanks for your replies he's been well and cheerful today, but it's all starting to peel now. Poor Ryan x

I would definately say that that is from the wind. It is exactly like sunburn.

Poor Ryan, hope he's a bit better now
