I've noticed a few people look for a a diet to try and loose weight while trying for a baby and so I thought I'd share mine that I've been working on x

6 small meals instead of 3 bigger ones

meal one
poached egg & a slice of wholemeal toast with low-fat margarine (202 kcals)

meal two
jumbo mushroom stuffed with 30g cous cous, lemon juice & rind, grated carrot, diced red pepper & 14g cashew nuts served with mixed leaf salad (224 kcals)

meal three
100g chicken breast stuffed with 30g low-fat philidelphia, chives & 30g mushrooms, served with 80g mixed vegetables (271 kcals)

meal four
200g new potatoes mixed with onion, sweetcorn & low-fat mayonnaise (161 kcals)

meal five
10g walnuts, 10g dried fruit, mixed leaf salad, tomato, cucumber & spring onions with low-fat yoghurt & mint dressing (136 kcals)

meal 6
small portion of custard (153kcals)

lots of water

1147 calories

Little bit worried that it's a bit too low but going to work on a trial and error basis. Anyone got any ideas on how to add a few extra calories or do you think theres enough there for now?

I'm also walking 4838metres 5 times a day while LO is in nursery.

Once we get our bfp though I'll be gradulaaly increasing my intake to 2000kcals a day x x

Hi doodles, I think that does look a bit low at least in the long run. I go to rosemary conely classes. When you start there you start on 1200 cals per day for 2 weeks, this is called kick start. Then you do 2 weeks on 1400 cals, then you get given a calorie allowance based on your height, weight and age. Also, everything should be less than 5% fat. I'm 5'7" when I started I wed 28 and weighed 12 stone, so got an allowance of 1460 per day.

So if I were you I wouldn't keep the calories so low for long. Humans need min 1200 per day before the even start moving, so it's nut advisable to eat that few number of calories for a sustained period.

There isn't much meat in there so if you want to up your cals try adding a bit more low fat meat, like grilled chicken or fish. Also, don't forget to count any cals in drinks. Also might want to include some milk for added calcium.

Hope that helps x

thanks Toni_Win, not a big meat lover at the moment thats why I've just stuck to chicken plus it can be quite expensive putting lots of meat in, I'm thinking a couple of cups of tea though & few glasses of pure juice might help along with some veg sticks/fruit spread through the day x

Fair enough, bumping up cal intake with extra fruit juice and veggies is a good idea, but would try and get a bit more protein in there as well if you can, you've got the mushrooms, do you like eggs at all? An egg is about 99 calories (depending on size), so using one to make an omlette or scrambled eggs with loads of veg in is a good way to add some protein for relatively few calories.

It sounds great to me. I did Rosemary Connely before my wedding but found it a bit complicated, which is probably why it didnt really work for me, and weight watchers points have always annoyed me, mainly because i use up my whole daily allowance on wine ;-) so I'm generally going on the whole calorie thing too. I figure about 1400 is what I should be consuming to lose weight and I need to up my excercise, but a bad ankle (3 weeks now!) is hindering me and its really really annoying!

thanks both, going to take your advice Toni_Win and add another egg (probably at breakfast) and going to bulk up the calories slightly with fruit/vegie sticks through the day so that I'm never hungry x

I've always found that really reducing my carb intake worked for me as you get everything you need from grains, pulses, fruit & veg plus helps with not feeling so heavy & bloated & Protein is another thing to increase as helps you feel fuller for longer to

I always try & have a big breakfast, medium sized lunch & a smaller dinner, I read a saying somewhere ages ago 'Eat like a king at breakfast, a prince at lunch & a pauper at dinner'

With exercise, even half hour a day is good for you & as long as you involve cardio then your well away with weight lose & Interval training is fab as you end up using all your muscles

My routine is day 1: lower body, day 2: abs, day 3: upper body then day 4: rest or something gentle like yoga

On my training days I do all my exercises at home & only weights involve is my body weight & I add in skipping as my cardio & just change my leg movement ever 100 skips ie. First 100 skips legs closer together, 2nd 100 skips legs like scissors & you can always do 100 skips then move onto your exercises for a few mins then back to skipping & so on, takes 20-30 mins

This sounds good. However Kezza if you could come round and prepare it all for me that would be great . Part of my problem is that some weeks I get time for all the prep and some weeks I don't.

Too right! If only I was rich and could afford to pay someone loooooool.

This is it, we all aspire to be like these celebs & fitness models who are super toned & eat the finest organic healthiest food but always have to tell myself........THEY EARN MEGA MONEY & can afford anything & everything in order to look like that & have all the time in the world

At the same time, does make me feel better though as I work extra hard on top of work & keeping home nice etc that I can still work out & eat healthy & look good :)

Yay to us :)
