So I nearly set the house on fire this evening....came home from work, popped the grill on, promptly forgot all about it, went to have a shower and when I went into the kitchen the grill was on fire, with proper flames! The kitchen was full of smoke!!

We got the fire out, and the oven and grill both now work fine...but the buttons/knobs are all melted...husband furious with me, told me I am a f*cking idiot (we never swear at each other) and I just can't believe how stupid I was!! Engineer booked for next Mon, and will cost £120 to get it fixed.

But what I can't believe is how stupid I am...I am not normally so completely dumb - but this seems to be happening a lot in this pregnancy....a few months ago I accidentally smashed the windscreen on my husbands sports car!

I'm sure you're all laughing at me - bring on the day that I can laugh about this too!!

It's not just me though right?! Does everyone else have baby brain!? :)

Oh hun! I'm really sorry you're not having much luck! And yes, I did giggle a bit and one day you both will!!
I'm always forgetting things! Like locking the doors! I got up this morning, went to go out the front door and wondered why my key wasn't working, just to realise that it had been left open all night!

You're not the only one!! I think baby brain seems to manifest in Tri 3!! xx

Awwww no :( I hate doing stupid things and I seem to be doing that a lot recently too. Not to the extreme you have but I wouldn't be surprised if I did. Last stupid thing I done was put orange juice in the cupboard with the glasses....but I was known to do this before pregnancy!!

xx

Oh dear, I'm not laughing I promise :) I've had boughts of serious baby brain this pregnancy. I've left the oven on and gone to bed but luckily no fire just been on for several hours before I noticed.

You can't help it, it's one of the effects of the hormones we've got whizzing round our bodies. In the grand scheme of things no harm was done, your DH will come round soon. If not tell him we said he should be nice!! :) xx

Thanks girls - I think the husband is beginning to think he has married a complete dimwit!

I am normally so on top of things...now I am a total liability....some days I arrive at work with no memory of the drive there!!

I hope we laugh about it in the future...although I wish he would stop looking at me like I need 'help'!

I left the iron on all day whilst I was out at work and also left the gas hob on all day as well lucky nothing set alight and the cats managed to avoid the heat both times! Oh now asks me every time we leave the house if everything is turned off lol

Wen I was in tri 3 I set fire to lid of my pressure cooker. Put pan on and turned on wot I thought was the cooker ring under it. Went upstairs to bathroom and heard cracking noises from downstairs. Came down to discover I'd turned the wrong ring on and actual flames coming from the lid. House stank for ages after even with all windows open.

If you ask me baby brain needs to be recognised as a medical issue!! I haven't done anything as serious yet but I am sure i am going gaga as the weeks go on. :wall2::wall2:

Try not to worry chick. You will laugh one day.

I am an organised multitasking genius turned total and utter liability....

-left the gas hobs on daily in last few weeks
-put my freshly cooked dinner in the bin thinking it was the waste
-tonight I sprayed kitchen cleaner on my tuna sandwiches whilst making them

Don't worry although I havent caused expensive damage I have caused chaos a few times...apparently it can get worse!

Big hugs to the stoopids!

X

You have no idea how much better I feel knowing it's not just me!!! :)

Your stories have made me laugh - although I don't think the husband is amused yet! He is still trying to adjust to the hormonal monster that I have become through this pregnancy - I am not the woman he married!! lol

Is it just me, or is it a special skill to be this baby brained?!

I can also pretty much cry on cue now too - I am a delight to be around!! :)

Glad you're feeling a bit better about it today!
I'm ashamed to admit that my last episode of baby brain had me in a panic that I had put my dogs life at risk! He had 2 ticks on him and my mum mentioned something about using a 'spirit' to smother them and then remove them. For some unknown reason I reached for white spirit rather than surgical spirit and this resulted in the tick site becoming very red, inflamed and sore and my poor dog hyperventilating for 3 hours! (I called my vet and they said that he would be fine and we just needed to keep him settled but I could hear her role her eyes at me on the phone - I felt so stupid). Thjs then got me in a panic about what type of mummy I'll be if I can make such a dangerous mistake with my dog!
Luckily he was fine later on that evening and has been since but it really did scare me!

I felt exactly the same - my husband 'usefully' pointed out - what if we'd had a baby in the house?! And then my guilt trip was so much worse!!

I hope to god my baby brain doesn't last as long because I'm not sure how much more of this my husband can take!!
