Are we too obsessed with sterilisation?

I stopped sterilising at 6 months, and at around 7 months I started using tap water for her formula....and she's fine and dandy with that, no problems at all that I've found!

I read that in the US dishwashers clean at a higher temp than in Europe and this is why they don't have to sterilise but I'm afraid I don't remember where I read it!

yeah course nothing wrong with a few germs to build up the immune system :D

This is a factor as to why i think kids these days are getting so sick to be honest, as everything is sterilised there's medication for this, anti-bacterial stuff for that, and the kids aren't getting a chance to build up their own immune systems!

The factor being what i said (let them get a few germs in them) or because of all the sterilising?

Sorry getting confused you quoted me saying that they should be allowed to get a few germs to help their immune system and said it was a factor for them getting so sick. then went on to say it was because everything was sterilised?

 Sorry Cassi, i confuse myself sometimes!!

I meant because everything is sterilised, anti-bacterial for this and that, and so on. Let them get some bloody germs and build up their little immune systems, i think that's why kids get so many illnesses these days, as they're not allowed to build up their immune systems!

well I have put the steriliser away and moved to tap water sometimes too! Still use boiled water if I have the time (which I normally do) but less pancking about having to use tap water. Yippee! Seems to be going well so far!

Nope she doesnt have a dishwasher, just washed them in the sink seperate from everything else.

I still sterilise bottles but that's more out of habit than anything else. I'll be stopping in a couple of weeks and will finally move the horrible looking thing out the kitchen :D

I sterlilise the bottles and the dummies.

I dont do this but who does...
