just bought aptamil formula, gave aiden his first feed with it, and i shook it to mix the powder and milk - it went all bubbly.

is this right? i put 4oz in, and after i shook, it had went below the 4oz.. he's almost finished the bottle, but there's still loads of bubbles in the bottle.

no idea. is he full of wind now though

I think all formulas when you shake them go bubbly. Nothing to worry about

If you make it a little earlier, the bubbles go down a bit.

Willow was on aptimil and yes it went very frothy and bubbly she never got wind though so this is complety normal.

Jenna is on aptamil and yes, it does get very frothy. I sometimes make an extra oz to compensate as she hates drinking the froth!

thanks girls - frothy is the exact word to describe it!!

i've never seen formula do that before, but as long as it's normal :D

Hi,

We use Aptamil, but with the Dr Brown bottles, who suggest not to shake the bottle but to stir the mixture.. so we use a plastic weaning spoon to stir the water and formula, and keep the spoon in the steriliser (Milton or the steam one)

Some of the froth is all the bubbles of air replacing the milk they drink which thankfully doesn't sit in their gut and cause wind pains! I often use the ready made cartons which don't do this but they have gotten pricey lately.
