How was you induced? and Did it cause any complications? And how far along was you?

Im trying to get some info about it as at 38weeks im gonna be told if ill be being induced at 40 weeks or not but read somewhere that it can cause distress in baby or c-sections or stronger contractions. Thanks x

I was induced at 40+11, had a 22 hour natural labour with no complications or assistance :)

Some people struggle, as with an induction your body is put straight into labour. Whereas if you go naturally then your body will build up contractions slowly, and your brain will release endorphins to help you cope. With an induction you don't have this.

I wouldn't worry too much though, you are more likely to go naturally than need an induction!

i went over with my daughter by a week and if they think this baby is going to be 9lb or more then they want to induce me at 40weeks exactly. Im hoping that i do go into labour naturally before they have to induce me but knowing my luck they will have to induce me lol x

I was induced with my eldest and everything was fine except that they topped up my epidural and for some reason i progressed a lot quicker than they expected so i couldn't actually feel anything when they told me to push so he was delivered by forceps because i couldn't push.
Then they tried to induce me early with my youngest but he wasn't playing ball that day and turned breech so i had an emergency c-section.
But overall I never had any problem with being induced, btw i was induced via pessary so it was a little uncomfortable but when compared to natural labour that i had with the middle one it was really no different xx

I was induced at 42+2, they tried pessaries for 3 days before finally breaking my waters then giving me the syntocin drip. I personally will do everything I can not to be induced again, not that it was a horrific experience or anything, but my 2nd came naturally at 41+3 and was a different experience altogether. My body just took over and everything seemed so natural and was over so quick. Much less medical.

With my first, she was very shocked and blue and even though 2 weeks late, IMHO she was not ready to come. No 2 on the other hand was big fat and pink lol.. Still, induction doesn't neccissarily mean the whole shebang, drips and all. Might just be pessaries and the like.

i was induced at 40+7 as my bp was high i had gel applied to cervix twice in 12 hours then my waters were broken at 2cm i was put on syntocin drip and had epidural after a few hours of not much going on then after 7hours of this i was still only 2cm and babys heartrated dropped 5 mins later i was having a csection luckily due to csection no more inductions for me and tbh id never have one again it didnt work led to a csection and made me feel failure although it had to be done due to bp

This is what im worried about. Think at my 38week scan if they say im going to be induced then im going to get as much info out of them as i can as i really dont want a c-section and i managed to push out my daughter so im sure i can manage to push out my son too no matter how big he is.

If they say they want to induce me can i refuse? x

Yes, you have to sign forms before they put drip in from what I remember.

Didn't realise they would think of induction just cos baby was big. Think I'd hang on to him myself lol

I think the Dr`s term of "Big" is 9lb or more as my daughter was 9lb 3 and he said i had a "whooper" lol. i think im going to say could they let me go atleast a week over before inducing me. Im having a growth scan at 28weeks when i have my 4d scan so will see if hes on track or not x

If you get induced by the pessarys can you go home untill you go into labour or do u have to stay in? x

no u have to stay in darlin. im goin in on thurs to be induced ill be 38 weeks. Iv spoke threw it with doc as i thought they let u go but no they dont, ur in till u leave with bubs xxx

Thanks, have they told you how they are going to induce you? x

still no action then Laura? :( I bet youre getting so impatient now!! This time next week you'll have your baby :yay:

Of course you can refuse induction! They cant pin you down and put the pessaries in! I refused induction twice this time - first they were saying I was having a 9/10lb baby, then they said he might have stopped growing.....neither were true in the end and the dr apologised...he was only 8lb 4.5 which is less than my daughter. I knew in my heart there was nothing wrong and after a bad induction experience with my eldest I wanted to avoid it unless there was a genuine risk to my baby.

BTW 9lb isnt a whopper! 10lb plus maybe. A girl I was talking to today had an 11lb baby naturally.
