Before I reached 20 weeks, I was pretty excited about labour and up for it.
Now Im more than half way through my pregnancy and have only got 19 weeks left untill Iv gotta push him out of a tiny hole, comepared to how big hes gonna be!
Its starting to dawn on me its gonna bloody hurt
Especially when I watched the programme 'kizzy mum at 13' and she was in labour and she said they have to cut her 3 times

3 words...............
Gas and Air.................They should sell it in the pubs!

You'll be fine! It's kind of an addictive pain - like getting a tattoo. I look back and wish I was doing it all again just now!

I was CACKING myself before labour. I started a thread on here in Tri 3 absolutely bricking it and in floods of tears. I am the world's biggest wuss, I can't stand blood or invasive procedures and if anyone even mentions needles *shudder* I faint. I am also terrible at dealing with pain. My friends laugh at me.

However I managed natural labour with no pain relief. YES, it bl**dy hurt and YES I never thought I'd get to the end of it when I was doing it at the time but I did manage it and believe me if I can, you can too :cheer:

Good luck hun - best thing to do is just go with the flow at the time xxx

Yeah :) I keep telling myself 1000's of women go through it so I can too.
Im such a wuss too though
Even though Iv had 15 piercings and Im fine with that, but then aagin there over in a split second. this will be a bit diferant
I wouldnt mind an epidural but then I keep thinking that would be cheating and I should just try to do it with gas and air.

Cool my tattoos didn't hurt! Yay me! :rotfl:

Hehe seriously I am starting to get a bit nervous about it. I'm actually more scared that something happens where I have to have a C section. Hospitals and operations kinda make me panicky. I'd rather have the pain ;) :D

Im also worried about ripping and then having to be stitched up while still awake. Ewwwyy.
*shudders*

Same! Im worried about burping him. Im scared I wont do it properly or soemthing or he wont burp and then hell have trapped wind. Im a bit of a worry guts

Im lucky in a way as even though bubba is my first Ive been a nanny for 13years so Im used to handling, bathing, feeding etc newborns up to teenagers, that bit doesnt faze me at all. But the birth, well thats a different story!! Im TOTALLY freaking myself out about it, Im 27weeks on Friday and its flying by now so I keep dreaming (or should I say having nightmares about it!)

I just keep telling myself I can do it and no matter how bad it is I get to meet bubba at the end of it which will make it all worthwhile.

I cant wait for labour!!!! I think its one of the most exciting moments ever :cheer:

Nothing is as difficult as you expect it to be and most things to do with babies are just basic common sense anyway, usually if you just follow your instinct you'll be fine. And even though they're tiny babys are tougher than they look! They wont mind if you make a few mistakes anyway, everbody does. I must have changed a million nappies over the years and made hundreds of bottles, baths everday etc but I started nannying at just 18 and I coped fine so you will too

im not as far gone as you but i remember with my 1st after giving birth(i was also cut) to my lovely little boy i couldnt wait to go through labour again lol has weird as that may sound after 22 and half hrs of it....but im now actually i wouldnt say scared but im not looking forward to it either maybe cause i know what to exspect Luca was lying back to back with me so i had a lot of back labour ........but i just keep thinking its not that bad some woman go on to have loads more than 1 or 2 children my mates just had her 5th and shes only 29.........
just think about holding ur little bundle of joy afterwards it will all be worth it

I'm trying not to get too worried yet. I have already started to think about my birth plan and I'm gonna go in with an open mind. Have been reading loads of magazines so I feel more relaxed about it all. I do worry about tearing though! I don't care how much pain I go through to have my little angel 'cause in the beginning I had to face losing her so i'm just glad to be as far as I am now! :)

well i have just recently gone through it , it was horrible and i screamed and cried but i am already wishing i was pregnant again............... so it is painful but easily forgotten when you are kissing and cuddling your little one all day.(i know its a cliche but its true)

p.s dont tell my partner im broody already he will think i am CRAZY

Scared? I am crapping my pants!! I am scared about the pain, the tearing, the pooing  and worried what terrible language i'll come out with! I think i'm going to need more than gas and air. They gave me gas and air when i had a horse riding accident to get me onto the spinal board and it didn't help!

Awww don't worry all you first timers! If it was that bad we wouldn't go through it again!

Pain - Gas and Air is fantastic because it takes the edge off makes you feel tipsy enough to not care who the hell is looking (or touching) your lady bits and gives you something to concentrate on!
If you need an epidural then take it although it can slow things down and mean you need extra help (forceps etc)

Shouting/swearing - you are bound to get a bit vocal! Some women are calm others scream - to be honest i have done both! I think screaming is worse though as you end up using too much energy on it and then your really tired! Mooing is quite a popular one too! The midwife will of heard the bluest of language before and half expect you to swear so don't worry!

Pooing - don't worry about it, most women do it and your midwife will get rid of it before you know its happened, infact its better to let it all go than hold back in fear...your middy will of seen it a million times before!

Tearing - if it happens you probably won't notice it other than a hell of a sting down there, I tore in two labours and didn't know and the third i was fine so it doesn't always happen anyway, the best thing is to pant when they tell you so the head comes out gently. If they are going to cut you they will probably numb you up with a local first.

Stitches - right this if its just a small tear will be done about an hour after you deliver, they stick your legs in stirups (very dignified! NOT - but you won't really care cause your baby will be there!) Then they shine a bright light in between your legs, and use local to numb you up (this stings like hell by the way!) then they stick a HUGE tampon in you and stich away! The worst thing is that sometimes they have to gently examine your anus (yep finger up there!) It really doesn't hurt as long as you relax!! I suggest that you ask for gas and air for the stitches i had this both times as it just helps you relax and not tense up.

I think the most important thing is to try stay calm, breath through it, try to stay mobile and as upright as possible. Relax and don't fight it 'ride' each contraction like a wave, it starts it peaks and then it eases...the more you tense up the more it hurts!
Listen to your body and look for the signs of the next stage - you will know instantly when you need to push and very little can stop that feeling!

Your all going to be fine!!!
